Ethnic Chic

Passion for designEthnic Chic is an internationally oriented design agency, based in Amsterdam and recently also in New York. Co-owner and interior designer Robin Toetenel has been working within the field for some ten years and with Ethnic Chic has grown from a shop in the 9-streets into a design agency that works on all kinds of residential and commercial assignments. In addition, Ethnic Chic has a blog with International design inspiration and an online boutique shop with a large range of exclusive brands.

 “We regularly work abroad. We are currently working on projects in Belgium, Bahrain and Italy and previously worked in Dubai and on the Fiji- islands. Our passion for design and interiors is in everything we do. Inspiration and influences from different cultures form the basis of our company. Years ago these influences came via the silk route from China to India and eventually entered Europe as far as Venice. These influences brought about new styles and techniques; an ‘Ethnic’ mix.”This is exactly what Ethnic Chic distinguishes itself with, because do not ask Robin Toetenel to pigeonhole their style: ‘No, I find that so difficult. Every project is completely different again. We actually reinvent ourselves every time. We do distinguish ourselves because we are very fond of craftsmanship and handiwork and have a lot made in our own workshop. An eye for detail and a perfect finish are important in this.”
