Marcel de Ruiter

Marcel de Ruiter is an independent architect, based in the fortified city of Gorinchem since 2004. With a primary focus on villas and country houses, he has completed a large number of projects throughout the Netherlands. By combining a contemporary approach with the use of traditional materials, his work has a distinctive character and refined sense of presence.

The projects are defined by a contemporary and striking geometry, in which the traditional appearance of a thatched roof contrasts with the modern base. Combined with a strong focus on natural light, sight lines and spatial experience, this forms the essence of the designs: creating heritage.
