Eclectic size kitchen
The owners of this 1930s home were looking for a kitchen that blended seamlessly with their beautiful home. The new addition needed to exude the eclectic style of the interior: warm, friendly and inviting. Van den Berg used a unique combination of colors, materials and styles to achieve this prestigious result.
The whole thing feels more like a piece of furniture than a kitchen unit, and cleverly it looks calm despite the many different materials. Much use was made of natural tones as in the clear lacquered walnut, the oak of the tall cabinets and the beautiful Belvedere Leather granite of the island top. LED spotlights accent the artifacts in the upper cabinets, and LED strips in the handle rail add a lot of atmosphere, especially at night.
Brass plays a prominent role in this kitchen: the island itself is made of real brass, which has a lived-in, warm look. The organically shaped, handmade sink also serves as a beverage bar, where bottles can be chilled in ice. Hand-painted to match the island perfectly, Wave’s brass range hoods complete the eclectic vibe of the kitchen.
Van den Berg deliberately chose not to use only straight lines in the design: the drop-shaped leg under the island is a great example of this. A surprising choice is also the really antique Chinese cabinet, which does have modern drawers. The black is reflected in the oven and refrigerator, which are from a special classic line by Smeg from Italy. Van den Berg does an excellent job of responding to the customer’s unique needs, delivering a piece of craftsmanship here with an on-top finish.
