Grand renovation of 1950s house
Danielle Verhelst Interieurontwerp was commissioned to create an interior design and complete interior plan for a 1950s family home in the Hilligersberg neighborhood of Rotterdam. Even though the house was starting to get a little cramped for the family with two growing girls, they did not want to move because of their love for the neighborhood and the city.
When the family approached Danielle Verhelst Interieurontwerp, they were already working with an architect from Foam architectural firm Rotterdam for a remodel and an addition with a steel facade. Danielle Verhelst’s task was to integrate this modern addition with the old part of the house and give the rest of the first floor a makeover.
The family was looking for an interior that was both beautiful and child-friendly. They wanted a luxurious, hotel-chic atmosphere that was also practical for their busy lives. Danielle Verhelst delivered a complete plan, including all the details for materials, furniture and lighting. The plan included a layout plan, mood plan, plan for wall and floor finishes, drawings and materialization of custom work, lighting plan and furniture plan.
