In the picturesque town of Denekamp, in the province of Overijssel (NL), a newly built house is fitted with two slat systems. Both awnings are triangular in shape and have a combined area of nearly 16 m2.
The larger window on the left (viewed from the outside) occupies about 2/3 of the area and is a bedroom window. The smaller exterior blind on the right screens the bathroom window.
Both slats have their own motor, making them independently operable. If both systems are opened the same distance, you will not notice that you are looking at two separate slat systems.
For the residents, the goal was not only protection from too much sunlight and heat, but also maximum blackout. They appreciate a good night’s sleep.
Precisely for the desired sleep, the homeowner chose the 88-E slat, this top features a groove. Slats overlap by definition. Also, the 88-E slats hook into each other through the groove, they interlock. Exactly that makes the 88-E ideal for darkening bedrooms.
In case you’re wondering, the 88-E louvre gets its name from its height; 88mm. The entire slat system is finished in RAL 9011 – graphite black. Which in turn contributes to a good night’s sleep.
