House DW Keerbergen
The design of this property started on a good note: generous building codes, good orientation and beautiful views of the golf course.
The domain borders golf courses into which the garden simply flows. Of course, that environment had to be included as much as possible in the design. The indoor-outdoor feeling had to be present everywhere.
The client attaches great importance to outdoor living. It should be possible to eat on the terrace by the pool all year round. That was perhaps the principal requirement of the client. An outdoor pool and a spacious covered outdoor area, which offers protection against our capricious climate, should not be missed.
Due to a difference in level in the terrain, the terrace is about 60 centimeters higher than the garden and the swimming pool. This gives the residents an even better view of the adjacent golf course and the surrounding nature. In addition, a skylight and radiant heaters have been integrated into the outer ceiling, so that the zone remains a pleasant place to stay even in less favorable weather conditions.
The kitchen diner provides access to the outdoor area with a bar, dining and sitting area. Adjacent are the shower, changing room and toilet for the pool.
The covered terrace is finished with wooden trelliswork that returns to the front facade, where it provides privacy at the height of the window on the upper floor. At the front, the villa looks relatively closed and forms a visual buffer in relation to the street.
Another striking element is the glass floor in the living room. It draws daylight into the basement on the underground level. There are some relaxation areas there. You can work out, play ping pong, play or sit at the bar.
Every element of the interior has been designed by the architects and enhances the experience of the villa. The client did not want a purely black-and-white house, but a lively living environment where sleek elements still provide a warm atmosphere. Wood and natural stone predominate, honest materials that leave a mark on the interior. The same happens on the first floor. There, all the bedrooms unfold towards the garden, while soft colors help to determine the atmosphere.
