Industrial modern kitchen with a built-in fireplace and TV niche

Green tiles frame the built-in fireplace and give the kitchen wall a clear centre. The opening sits in a dark run of cabinetry, with the TV niche set beside it and the taatsdeur folded into the same wall plane. Opposite, the coffee side is handled as another inset zone, so the room reads as a sequence of built surfaces rather than a loose mix of cabinets and appliances. In this industrial modern kitchen with a built-in fireplace, the wall composition does most of the work.

A wall built around fire, screen and access

The fireplace surround is compact and deliberate. Small green tiles catch the light around the firebox, while the darker storage fronts hold the composition steady. The TV niche sits close enough to the fireplace to feel part of the same line, but it stays visually distinct as its own recess. That makes the wall useful from several angles: it carries the fireplace, frames a screen, and hides a pivoting door without interrupting the surface. The result is a kitchen wall with TV niche that reads as one measured architectural move.

Across from that, the coffee side adds another layer of use. It is not treated as a separate corner, but as an inserted band of shelving and equipment within the same dark envelope. Open recesses, glass-fronted sections and narrow vertical divisions break up the cabinetry so the wall never becomes flat. Indirect linear lighting runs through the composition and picks out the edges of the niches, which keeps the built-ins legible even when the room is viewed from the island.

The island brings bar, table and work surface together

The island is the most social element in the room, but it still works like a practical workstation. One end reads as a bar, while another part extends into a table-like zone, so the kitchen island bar and dining table combination can handle quick meals, prep time and longer stays around the same volume. The top surface is broad and continuous, which gives the eye a clear horizontal plane against the darker cabinetry behind it. Seen from the side, the island carries the room’s strongest line.

Its countertop has the look of marble-like natural stone, with a pattern that adds movement without overt decoration. That stone surface sits on a base of dark fronts, so the difference between top and bottom is easy to read. The island also connects the cooking area to the rest of the room by spacing out the work zones instead of compressing them into one block. Pendant lights hover above it and throw a warm pool down onto the stone, making the worktop and dining edge register as separate uses within the same object.

Material shifts that keep the room grounded

Massive old oak softens the harder edges in the room. The wood brings grain and variation, especially where it sits next to the stone, glass and dark painted fronts. Its finish in Skylt and oil keeps the surface matte enough to avoid glare, so the texture stays visible rather than sealed away under shine. That matters in a room with so many fixed lines: the oak gives the eye a place to pause. In the industrial modern kitchen with built-in fireplace, the wood is the material that slows the composition down.

The cabinetry stays on the darker side, which lets the open nooks and lighter stone surfaces stand out. Handles and trims carry a slim metal look, reinforcing the linear feel of the wall units. In the image set, the fronts are broken up by tall doors, inset storage and lower equipment zones, so the cabinetry reads as a system of panels rather than one uninterrupted run. The dark finish also helps the green tile surround stand out more clearly, especially where the fireplace and adjacent niche sit in the same field of view.

Equipment tucked into the architecture

The appliance list is long, but it is absorbed into the joinery instead of standing apart from it. The kitchen includes a cooktop, oven, combi oven, warming drawer, two wine coolers, a cooler, a drawer cooler, a freezer, a dishwasher, a black tap and a bottle cooler. That range explains the amount of fitted storage around the wall and island, yet the room never turns into an equipment display. Doors, recesses and concealed compartments keep the technical side inside the architecture.

Ventilation is handled with a ceiling-mounted frame above the cooking area, which leaves the working surface visually open. Close to it, the induction zone is set into the stone and marked by a clean circular glow in one of the detail images. Below and beside the main wall, integrated wine cooling niches and glazed compartments appear in the lower sections, where glass fronts and dark framing create a measured break in the cabinetry. The equipment sits where the joinery already expects it, so the room remains calm even with many functions packed into it.

Light that traces the edges

Indirect linear lighting in the kitchen gives the wall depth after dark. It runs along shelves, recesses and upper openings, tracing the outline of the built-in zones rather than flooding the room with one flat layer of light. That approach suits the composition: the fireplace niche, the TV niche and the coffee side all depend on clear edges. The linear light does exactly that. It makes the recessed storage readable from the island and adds a faint glow to the darker cabinetry without washing out the material contrast.

Above the island, the hanging lamps bring a more focused light circle to the worktop and the seating edge. Their black frames echo the darker fronts below, while the warm bulb light lands directly on the stone. In the wider shots, daylight filters in from the windows and picks up the texture of the oak and the tile surface around the fire. The room ends up with two registers: precise accent light in the joinery and a softer wash over the island. That split keeps the kitchen practical without flattening its detail.

How the wall composition pulls the room together

What stays with you is the way the wall is assembled. Fire, screen, door and storage sit on one line, each part taking its place without fighting for attention. The green tile fireplace surround gives that line a point of emphasis, while the adjacent recesses keep it useful. The island then answers it with a second horizontal block in stone and dark cabinetry. Together they shape an industrial modern kitchen with a built-in fireplace that is organised through surfaces, not decoration.

The final effect comes from the measured contrast between materials: oak against stone, tile against paint, glass against dark fronts. None of those combinations is loud on its own, but together they make the room easy to read. The kitchen wall with TV niche, the built-in fireplace, the island bar and dining table, and the indirect linear lighting all contribute to the same clear structure. It is a room built from visible joins, recesses and lines, which is exactly why it holds together so well.
