The wish
Combining two 1930s homes into one XL home with great and inspiring living comfort.

The result
The dividing wall forms the central center with a large hearth and two openings. The fireplace is visible in both the kitchen and the living room and a crackling fire can be enjoyed in both rooms. LED lighting in the wall makes it seem as if it is floating in the room.

The kitchen island with integrated table is made entirely of natural stone. The void was created by removing parts of the two storey floors. For example, there is a view to the ridge, which creates an extra spatial effect. The two former kitchens now form a spacious pantry cum laundry room and study. The front door of the left house has been removed and fitted with glass. Both stairs have been maintained, creating a logical routing within the XL home.
