Louvered roof over terrace at a modern villa

An 11-meter louvered roof sets the tone for the terrace before the house does. The long canopy runs in a straight line above the outdoor seating area, where parallel slats cast a clear rhythm over the lounge bench and dining table. From this side of the villa, the roof is not just a cover; it shapes how the terrace is used, with a jacuzzi tucked into the same outdoor zone and wide views toward the water.

11 meters of shade above the terrace

The louvered roof over terrace extends across the full length of the covered area, giving the outdoor space a defined edge. In the images, the slats read as a dark, even ceiling that filters light without closing the terrace off from the garden and water beyond. That open-and-sheltered quality is what makes the setup work: the outside area still feels connected to the landscape, while the roof creates a place to sit longer, eat outside, and move between uses without changing level or route.

The project text describes the canopy as 11 meters long, and that length is visible in the way it spans the terrace without interruption. Rather than a small shelter attached to the house, it is a full outdoor zone. The louvre system brings structure to that zone through repeated lines and narrow gaps, so the roof becomes part of the spatial composition instead of a separate add-on.

Covered outdoor living with room for dining and relaxing

Under the louvered roof, the furniture is arranged for more than one moment in the day. A lounge bench sits close to the glass opening, the dining table is placed under the same cover, and the jacuzzi occupies a more private corner of the outdoor plan. That mix of uses gives the terrace a layered reading: sitting, eating and unwinding all happen beneath the same aluminium louvered roof, but each spot is clearly laid out by the furniture, the ceiling above it and the edge of the terrace floor.

Because the roof stretches over the full outdoor setting, the terrace works as covered outdoor living rather than as a single-purpose veranda. The slats above pull the eye along the length of the space, while the wooden deck below grounds the seating area with a warmer tone. In the daylight images, the result is easy to read: glass, wood and shadow are doing the work of organizing the terrace.

A louvre system above lounge, table and jacuzzi

The louvre system is visible not only as a technical layer but as part of the daily scene. Light reaches through the parallel slats in narrow bands, which leaves the furniture legible beneath the cover. The lounge bench sits in a calmer strip near the glazed wall, while the dining table occupies the central area where the roof line is most pronounced. Near the jacuzzi, the terrace becomes more enclosed by furniture and side elements, but the overhead rhythm continues uninterrupted.

That reading matters in a project like this. The roof is not hiding the terrace; it is giving the terrace a working ceiling. In the images, the underside of the canopy has a measured, almost architectural precision, with the slats forming a pattern that repeats across several views. The outdoor zone feels planned around use, not around decoration alone.

Glass, timber and a clear line to the water

The modern villa behind the terrace sets up a quiet contrast of materials. Large glass panes open the interior toward the outside, while timber cladding and vertical wooden elements break up the longer walls. This mix gives the louvered roof over terrace a strong frame to sit against. The roof line reads horizontally; the timber rhythm beside it reads vertically. Together they make the outdoor extension feel anchored to the house rather than appended to it.

Across the different images, the setting changes from close-up terrace detail to a wider view of water and planting around the property. That context matters because the terrace is clearly designed to respond to the view. From the veranda, the sightline runs past the slatted canopy toward the water, while the glass surfaces keep the connection open even when the roof overhead creates shade. The project’s strength lies in that simple sequence of surfaces: roof, glass, wood, then landscape.

Wooden slats and sharp edges around the canopy

Closer in, the project shows how the louvre roof meets the rest of the structure. Dark parallel slats form the underside, and at the edges the canopy is framed by vertical wooden elements that echo the house’s timber finish. Those details keep the roof visually tied to the villa. They also give the terrace a more exact perimeter, so the outdoor seating area does not blur into the garden.

The image analysis also shows a terrace floor in wood, which reinforces the sense of continuity underfoot. That material choice softens the visual weight of the roof above, especially when the water and sky reflect in the surrounding glass. The canopy then becomes a fixed line in a setting that otherwise changes with light, weather and reflection.

Livium’s aluminium louvered roof in a residential setting

Livium’s role sits naturally in the product itself: an aluminium louvered roof designed for residential outdoor living. The system shown here is expressed as a long, precise roof over the terrace, with the slatted construction making the canopy readable from several angles. In that sense, the project is a strong example of how a louvre system can define a porch, canopy or terrace extension without taking over the house beside it.

The case is straightforward, and that is part of its appeal. The roof does one visible job very well: it gives the terrace a clear overhead structure while leaving room for a lounge, dining table and jacuzzi below. Around it, the villa’s glass and timber surfaces, the wooden deck and the water view do not compete with the canopy. They frame it, and the louvered roof over terrace stays at the center of the composition.

How the terrace reads at different distances

From the wider exterior view, the terrace appears as a long band attached to the house, with the louvered roof marking its depth. From the closer shots, the slats become the main subject, showing their spacing and the shadow they make across the covered area. The project works on both scales. At one moment the roof is a strong horizontal gesture; at the next it is a pattern of lines above a table, a bench and the edge of the jacuzzi.

That shift in scale is what makes the project useful as reference material for covered outdoor living. It shows how an 11 meter louvered roof can give a terrace more than shelter. It can organize furniture, sharpen the boundary of the outdoor zone and tie a modern villa to its water-facing setting with a single, legible canopy.
