This classic Amsterdam building may have been spacious and equipped with beautiful authentic details before the renovation, but the finishing was quite dated, the basement very dark and the layout not to the wishes of the new owners. Sufficient reason, then, to change course with BNLA architects.

BNLA realized a complete custom plan that perfectly matches the residents’ housing needs. By introducing a double-height addition with very slim steel frames, daylight now penetrates deep into the house. A large loft was created with a custom steel staircase that provides an optimal connection between the bell floor, basement and garden. The result is a unique and personal home that beautifully blends classic, modern, rich ornaments and minimalist details.
