Renovation Heemstede

The original 1930s style of this house in Heemstede is combined with a modern atmosphere in the interior. The outdated semi-detached house had to be overhauled, because nothing had been done about it for decades. The house also had an unusual layout, because the previous residents also had a dental practice.

To bring extra light into the deep house, the ground floor was largely broken open, the old front door in the facade was replaced by a large window and the extension received a skylight in the roof. The residents spend a lot of time in the kitchen, which is why we literally placed the kitchen in the heart of the house. The kitchen brings the central zone to life and divides the space: at the front are the dining area and a play corner for the young children of the family and at the rear, near the garden, is a nice sitting area with a fireplace. The steel doors and glass wall between the hall and the living space connect the spaces. From the kitchen there is also a view of the office on the other side of the hallway. On the first floor, the residents have their own “suite” consisting of an attractive bedroom and associated dressing room and bathroom. In recent years, the house has been decorated with great care and taste. In the garden, which borders on water, the veranda with outdoor kitchen and lounge corner is a real eye-catcher and a wonderful place to enjoy at the end of the day.
