Roof garden with swimming pool in Amsterdam
The residents of this brand new penthouse wanted a roof terrace to escape the daily hustle and bustle, with a view of the vibrant city life of Amsterdam. Groenregie was responsible for the sublime design and realization with swimming pool, plant zones and lounge areas. And all this in a chic and harmonious atmosphere thanks to the sophisticated lighting, materials and colors.
Panoramic skyline
The white aluminum planters with lavender, rosemary, fig and ornamental grasses make the “outdoor area” of the roof terrace look Mediterranean. The raised composite decking features woven furniture with weather-resistant cushions. Here you feast your eyes, because you look out over the newly dug canals with houseboats and the harbor area.
Sustainable pavement
The canopy with slats that you can open or close at will was already there. The walls are covered with light beige stone strips that show a natural relief. The other paving consists of decking elements, large ceramic tiles on special roof tile carriers and beach pebbles. In the niches, the floor and the plants, we installed spots that subtly illuminate.
Water wealth
The showpiece of this terrace? This is undoubtedly the swimming pool, finished with composite decking and flanked by a custom-made white poly-plaster with stucco look. You get into the swimming pool via the stairs of the decking. Here you are wonderfully immersed in the warm water to enjoy wholesome luxury in privacy, with a glass of bubbles within reach. In the stone strip wall between the bath and the ‘green wall’ niches were provided in coated aluminum. Handy for accessories or practical things such as towels.
Green walls
The lavish plant wall gives this terrace a green and natural look, despite the relatively limited space for planting. Also in the wall along the bath are aluminum planters with, among other things, evergreen ferns and ornamental grasses. The slim pipes create a rippling watercourse while you dream away after a long working day …
View and transparency
The well thought-out design ensures optimal comfort and hides unsightly elements. For example, the green wall was equipped with a sprinkler system, and the swimming pool techniques were hidden from view in a cupboard behind the wall. It also offers space to store cushions and garden tools. To enjoy the bath in all seasons, this part of the terrace can be closed with sliding windows. The large glass areas provide a visual connection between inside and outside. From the interior you have a magnificent view of the beautiful green wall and the beautiful skyline of Amsterdam.
