Villa Perinne
JUMA architects was contacted for the interior design of a shell new construction apartment on the coast. Casco means that the structural work, plastering, screed and the techniques (piping central heating, plumbing, electricity and ventilation) have already been carried out.
Yet it soon became apparent that the task could not be limited to mere interior design because the kitchen, bathroom and dressing room provided were not logically designed. So more extensive remodeling work was needed to meet the client’s needs. The shell was therefore slightly modified so that the bathroom and dressing room could be a bit larger and more functional.
Furthermore, in the living space there was a very large radiator that attracted all attention. To solve this problem, new pipes were pulled so that an integrated heating element could be provided in the sideboard cabinet. In the kitchen, gas was brought in for the cooking stove that JUMA conceived as a real eye-catcher. In turn, the sinks were arranged more discreetly.
For the floors, light oak parquet was opted for throughout. The natural aspect of the wood gives all rooms a warm feel. The fixed furniture was custom made and finished in black satin lacquer to contrast nicely with the light wood. The predominant color palette is intentionally kept very sober and neutral and is complemented by light gray tones and color accents. Indeed, a beautiful photo of the coast was chosen as inspiration.
The stand-alone furniture and decoration were also chosen by JUMA architects. The arrangement of the seating area is very playful and atypically conceived. JUMA did not want a seat that was going to divide the space into 2. The composition is meant to achieve a very open look. The choice of a round table follows the same reasoning. The round shape is not going to divide the space but rather allow for fluid circulation.
