Custom interior in a luxury townhouse

A black steel window opens the first scene: daylight meets stone, wood and a piano arranged in a lobby-like entry room. The custom interior unfolds from there in a sequence of shifts, with a raised sitting area, a wine room reached by a short set of steps, and a kitchen and dining zone placed on the other side of a central built-in element. Rather than reading as separate rooms, the plan moves in layers, each space marked by a material change, a step or a wider opening.

Stone brings the living room into focus

The living room is built around a stone fireplace feature wall with a strong vein pattern and a low fire opening set into the base. Seating runs close to the wall, which makes the stone read almost like a piece of architecture rather than a decorative backdrop. The weight of that surface is balanced by the large steel windows nearby, where narrow divisions pull in light and frame the view through the townhouse. The result is direct and grounded: stone at one end, glass and air at the other.

A short step lift separates the sitting area from the entry zone, and that small change in level gives the room a clear pause. From the hall, the eye can move upward and across to the higher sitting room, then back through the opening toward the music corner. This custom interior uses those transitions carefully. Nothing is over-explained. A doorway, a step, a dark frame, a stone plane — each one does a different part of the work.

Large steel windows shape the first impression

The entrance starts like a lobby, not a corridor. A piano stands beside comfortable chairs, while the open steel-framed glazing brings in a strong horizontal rhythm. On sunny days those windows can be opened, turning the front room toward the street and making the boundary between inside and outside feel unusually porous. The black metal lines keep the view sharp. They also give the custom interior a visual anchor before the material palette shifts deeper into the house.

Further along the main axis, the steel windows continue to set the tone. Their grid structure appears again in openings and glazed doors, creating a repeated frame that links the rooms without flattening them into one space. The hall, the sitting room and the kitchen all keep their own character, yet the same dark outlines, pale wall surfaces and stone finishes thread through them. That repetition is subtle, but it is what holds the layout together.

Bespoke joinery around kitchen and dining

The kitchen and dining zone sits opposite the living areas and forms the figurative heart of the home. Here, bespoke joinery takes over: warm wood cabinets, a stone work surface and built-in shelving set into a recessed wall. A luxury fitted kitchen like this depends on proportion as much as finish. The long island offers space to gather, while the suspended lighting above it keeps the working zone distinct from the dining side. High stools line the edge, making the counter read as both preparation area and informal table.

Material contrasts are kept precise. Wood grain softens the cabinet fronts, while darker stone surfaces pull the eye to the work zone and the back wall. Open shelves break up the joinery and stop the composition from becoming too closed. In one view, the kitchen reads almost like a measured composition of solids and voids: closed storage, open niche, stone plane, timber panel, then back again. It is this discipline that gives the room its strength, not decorative excess.

Built-in wine cabinet and bar zone

A built-in wine cabinet and adjoining bar area add another layer to the plan. The cabinetry here uses a more tactile rhythm, with vertical timber slats and stone surfaces combining into a compact, heavily detailed wall. Rather than standing apart from the rest of the house, this zone sits naturally within the sequence, linking the kitchen, the lower rooms and the patio beyond. It is a smaller room, but the detailing is just as deliberate as in the larger living spaces.

Seen from the main circulation route, the wine and bar area acts as a pause point. Bottles, storage and service functions are folded into the joinery, leaving the room visually calm even though it carries multiple uses. The custom interior benefits from that kind of compression. One room can store, display and serve without needing separate architectural gestures for each function. That restraint keeps the layout readable.

Wood, marble and layered surfaces in the private rooms

Elsewhere, the material story shifts toward quieter rooms with warmer surfaces. Wood panels form recesses and frames, while marble-look finishes appear in the bathroom and on floors or worktops. A freestanding tub sits beneath roof windows in one bathroom, where daylight falls directly from above and catches the stone-like surfaces around it. The effect is straightforward rather than theatrical. Light enters from the roof, reflects off the pale finish, and gives the room a clear vertical emphasis.

The bedrooms continue that approach with fabric curtains, timber surrounds and wall finishes that hold the light instead of bouncing it away. One room opens to a large window with planting visible outside; another uses a deeper wooden frame to define the bed zone. These private rooms do not compete with the living areas. They continue the same custom interior language in a softer register, using texture and enclosure rather than contrast and scale.

A covered patio closes the sequence at the rear

At the rear, a covered patio extends the custom interior into an outdoor room framed by glazing, steel and timber supports. The patio is not treated as a separate afterthought. It sits within the same sequence as the guest rooms and the private bar domain, so the transition from inside to outside feels measured and deliberate. Glass panes, planted edges and a sheltered roofline keep the space visually connected to the house.

Seen from this side of the plan, the townhouse reveals how far the design reaches back. The deep footprint allows for rooms that shift in scale and mood, but the joins between them remain clear: stone to wood, open to enclosed, bright to muted. That is what gives the custom interior its presence. The house is not relying on a single statement room. It works through a chain of carefully detailed spaces, each one anchored by material and light.
