Garden with Pool and Holiday Feeling

A light stone terrace, a rectangular pool and clipped hedges set the tone right away. The garden reads as a place for long afternoons outdoors, with a clear route from the house to the water and planting that softens the straight lines. In this garden with pool, the eye moves from the terrace edge to the lawn, then up into the trees and layered borders. The result is not decorative clutter, but a measured outdoor setting that suggests a holiday feeling garden without losing its structure.

Terrace lines that extend the house

At the rear of the house, the floor treatment continues outside, so the transition is felt before it is fully noticed. That indoor-outdoor flow gives the terrace its strongest gesture: one surface runs past the threshold and toward the pool, linking glass, stone and water in a single movement. The house itself, with its white walls, dark window frames and thatched roof, forms a calm backdrop. The terrace does the practical work, but it is the continuity of the floor that sets the rhythm.

Seen from the terrace, the garden design is based on clear lines and open sightlines. The pool sits as a strong horizontal element, while the lawn and hedges hold the edges in place. This structured garden design is not rigid; rounded planting beds and softer outlines break the geometry where it matters. In the images, the natural stone paving, the pale pool edge and the clipped green borders create a visual path that keeps the garden readable from almost every angle.

A garden with pool framed by planting

The planting works in layers rather than in one dense mass. Ornamental grasses add texture close to the terrace, while shrubs and trees give the garden height and shade farther back. A few well-placed trees rise above the lower planting and give the space a slower, more settled pace. The owners selected the trees themselves at the nursery, which explains why the planting feels personal rather than generic. Each tree has room to grow into a defined presence.

Along the edges, trimmed hedges and geometric beds keep the composition sharp. They also make the pool area feel more enclosed without closing it off. A wood privacy wall appears in the layout as a vertical counterpoint to the low planting and the flat terrace surface. Its slatted rhythm adds a stronger edge where the garden needs screening. This is where the garden with pool shifts from open lawn to more protected outdoor rooms.

Light, shade and the pool edge

The pool is set into a sunny terrace zone, but the planting keeps the heat from feeling harsh. Reflections from the water meet the pale paving and the dark line of the hedge, creating small shifts in tone as the day changes. The rectangular shape of the pool is crisp, yet it sits comfortably among the softer materials around it. That contrast is part of the appeal: straight water, straight paving, then the looser forms of grasses and foliage.

From one of the higher views, the pool appears as the centre of the garden’s composition. Its edge is clean, the surrounding paving broad, and the lawn acts as a green frame beyond. The house, with its visible roofline and large openings, keeps the outdoor area tied to daily use. Nothing is overdesigned for effect. The project relies on proportion, surface and view, which gives the modern pool terrace its clarity.

Outdoor seating arranged for long stays

Furniture plays a visible role here. Wooden garden furniture, including a table, loungers and sunbeds, sits beside a more contemporary metal lounge bench and side tables. The mix is deliberate and a little unexpected, yet it works because the terrace has enough space to hold different pieces without feeling crowded. Outdoor seating is placed where the view stretches toward the pool and the planting, so the garden can be used in several ways at once: to eat, to rest, or simply to watch the light shift across the paving.

The materials are easy to read. Wood brings a familiar, tactile note; metal introduces a cleaner line; the stone terrace keeps both grounded. There is no need for decorative excess when the setting already offers so much through proportion and placement. The pool provides the focal point, but the seating turns the edge of the terrace into a lived-in zone rather than a pass-through. That is where the garden feels most like a retreat.

Small details that shape the mood

Even in close-up, the garden stays composed. The clipped hedge tops, the narrow joints in the paving and the layered planting beds show how much attention has gone into the outline of the space. A wooden slat wall stands almost like a screen between parts of the garden, while the black window frames of the house repeat the same clear contrast seen in the pool edge and terrace shadows. These are simple moves, but they matter because they keep the whole garden legible.

A small dog appears in the space as well, moving across the terrace and into the frame without disturbing it. That detail matters because it shows the scale of the place: open enough for movement, ordered enough to remain calm. In the end, this garden with pool is defined by how it joins the hard surfaces, planting layers and furniture into one outdoor setting. It looks ready for long days outside, but it does so through measured lines, clear materials and a restrained palette.

The strongest impression comes from the way the garden holds together without calling attention to its parts. Stone, water, hedge and tree each have a clear role. The terrace carries movement, the planting adds depth, and the pool gives the composition its centre. Read as a holiday feeling garden, it is less about spectacle than about the quiet discipline of the layout. Everything visible has a place, from the slatted screen to the sunbeds, and that precision is what makes the garden memorable.
