Two-sided charging post with warm LED and integrated charging cables

Two steel faces, a soft amber line of light, and a door that hides the working parts: this two-sided charging post is shaped as much by what it conceals as by what it shows. The dark metal exterior keeps the profile restrained, while the reflective interior catches the LED glow and lifts the opening from a simple technical access point to a visible detail.

The outdoor charging solution is built around two integrated charging cables, placed behind a steel door housing. That arrangement keeps the connector area out of sight when closed, yet easy to read when open. In the images, the opening sits in the centre of the standing post, with the cable and plug clearly framed by the metal shell. It is a direct solution, but one that avoids the exposed look often associated with utility equipment.

two-sided charging post as the architectural starting point

Warm LED lighting runs along the edge of the opening and gives the post a clear visual line after dark. It does not flood the scene; instead, it traces the contour of the steel form and makes the gap in the housing legible. Against the dark grey finish, the amber light reads as a narrow band rather than a decorative effect. That small intervention changes how the object sits in the garden, especially when the surroundings are already quiet and pared back.

The material contrast is simple and effective. Outside, the steel surface is dark and compact. Inside, the golden reflective interior catches the light and brightens the cavity around the cables. This shift in tone is visible even in a close view of the open housing. The result is not about ornament, but about giving the technical centre of the post a sharper presence.

Integrated charging cables behind a steel door

The two integrated charging cables are hidden behind the steel door housing, which keeps the post visually closed when not in use. That door is part of the design, not an added cover. It sets up the rhythm of the object: closed, then opened; plain metal outside, brighter interior inside. In the detailed image, the connector and cable sit neatly within the opening, protected by the surrounding steel structure and easy to locate once the door is opened.

Because the cables are built in, the post reads as a single standing element rather than a collection of separate accessories. That matters in the wider garden view. The vertical body remains clean, and the opening does not break the overall line of the post. Even with the door open, the form stays upright and compact, with the technical parts tucked into the centre instead of spreading outward.

two-sided charging post as the architectural starting point

The images show the two-sided charging post set into a garden setting with gravel underfoot, planting around it, and a paved edge nearby. The base sits cleanly on the ground plane, and the post has enough height to remain visible without dominating the scene. In one view, shrubs frame it on both sides; in another, a brick wall and a narrow path sit close by. Those elements make the post feel placed rather than parked.

Its dark finish helps it sit back against the surrounding textures. Gravel, leaves, brick, and painted wall surfaces all carry more visual noise than the steel body, so the charging post holds its own without drawing too much attention. The warm LED accent then gives it a second reading at night or in low light: not brighter, just more precise. That precision is what makes the object easy to find in a planted outdoor setting.

EU compatible Type 2 as part of the brief

The project is compatible with EU electric vehicles using Type 2, and that compatibility is part of the functional frame of the design. Nothing in the post tries to overstate that fact. Instead, the focus stays on how the equipment is housed and how the access point is organised behind the steel door. The design language remains consistent with a straightforward outdoor charging solution that is meant to be read quickly and used without visual clutter.

Seen as a whole, the two-sided charging post combines three clear moves: a concealed cable layout, a warm LED edge, and a reflective interior that turns the opening into a defined zone. The object works through contrasts in finish and light, not through extra parts. In the garden photographs, that restraint gives the post a measured presence, whether the door is closed or opened to reveal the cables inside.

The standing form is also easy to understand from different angles. Because it is two-sided, the post presents itself as a volume rather than a front-only device. That matters in a landscape where people move around it or approach from several directions. The steel body keeps the lines straight, the opening stays centred, and the LED accent adds a clear point of orientation. It is a practical object, but one that has been given enough material control to remain readable in the yard.

From the open housing detail to the full garden view, the design stays consistent: dark exterior, gold-toned interior, hidden cables, and a narrow line of warm light. The steel door housing keeps the technical side discreet, while the two-sided configuration makes the post visible from more than one approach. As an outdoor charging solution, it depends on clarity rather than display, and that is exactly what the photographs capture.

More than anything, the project is about how a piece of infrastructure can settle into a planted setting without losing its identity. The gravel, greenery, and nearby walls provide a quiet backdrop; the post responds with a compact steel body, a small amber glow, and a controlled opening for the integrated charging cables. The result is a charging post that reads cleanly in daylight and even more distinctly when the warm LED line begins to register at the edge of the form.

What the photographs highlight

One image focuses on the open steel housing, where the connector and cable are visible inside the reflective interior. Another places the post beside a gravel path and brick surface, showing how the dark metal sits against lighter ground materials. A third frames the unit among shrubs, with the text on the base visible, making the vertical proportions easier to read. Together, the images show the same object from different distances, always keeping the steel body, hidden cables, and warm LED detail in view. That makes the two-sided charging post part of the architectural character rather than a loose finish.
