The practice is active in the preparation and planning, design and guidance of construction projects. In its design work, the studio pursues an integrated approach to the design process, weighing all aspects of the design and building process from the very first idea. Based on an analytical approach, it works toward an optimal synthesis of space, function, structure, building technology and construction economics.

The concept emerges from a clear vision of the spatial context. The place and its history serve as a source of inspiration. Sustainability, reuse and flexibility are key principles. Design takes place in an open process with the client. Realising a building requires a major investment. The responsibility an architect has towards the client, but also towards the future, is that a building should remain valued for a long time.

Kuiper Steur Architecten BNA has designed and realised many projects. These include offices and commercial buildings, adaptive reuse projects, sports facilities, hotels, residential developments and detached homes, alterations and extensions to houses, restoration and renovation projects, development studies, and interiors for homes and shops, especially airport retail in the Netherlands and abroad, as well as office innovation and data centres throughout Europe.
