Inge Lagae’s designs are inspired by her travels around the world and by the people she has met and worked with along the way. Above all, she is fascinated and inspired by beautiful materials and the craftsmanship of different cultures, such as the traditional French and Italian ebonists, as well as the architects and artists who have crossed her path.
From 1996 to 2004, she worked with architect and artist Ola-dele Kuku, who received the Grand Prize/Prime Minister’s Prize of Architecture, IFI Nagoya in 1995 and created the first African Pavilion at the 15th Venice Biennale of Architecture. In 2020, she met French textile designer Isabelle Yamamoto. Their shared love of Japanese culture led to a collaboration on the Yoishu daybed for the KANA collection. The futon and cushion were created specifically for this lounger by Yamamoto.
