No Rules

There are No Rules at #nopizzeriapizza, the new restaurant from acclaimed three-star chef Jacob Jan Boerma, in Amsterdam’s Pijp district. That means creativity all around in food and drink. And in the interior, which we designed together with V-studio.

‘You have to know the rules like a pro so you can break them like a chef.’ This quote typifies the food and drink at No Rules. It also applies to the interior, which has a high Instagram factor due to the unexpected interplay of shapes, colors and atmospheres. So you can spend the whole day in No Rules and be in a different mood each time. During the day you can work in the green zone where plants provide extra oxygen. At the end of the day you can have a drink at the pink bling bling bar. Then wind down with an intimate dinner in the soft blue zone. The long sloping bar and, by extension the open kitchen forge these four zones together. No Rules seats 160 inside and 130 on the sunny terrace.

Four zones
The building’s architectural structure opened the way to a division into four zones, each with its own atmosphere and accent color. There is the green zone characterized by active and high seating, to work, to drink, with lots of plantings and concrete wall tiles. The pink zone is near the bar, where it’s all about socializing, seeing and being seen. Then there is the light blue dining area with round benches, an intimate atmosphere, design classics, and wood. Finally, the gray zone is an active traffic space that forms the connection between inside and outside. The untreated copper is reflected in all areas as are the designs in the wall finishes.

Instagram items
Dining out is seeing and being seen, in real life and online. That’s why the interior of No Rules in #nopizzeriapizza has a few interior items with a high Instagram factor. Not to be missed are the liquor cabinet that flows from the wall into the ceiling, the famous game of tubes and ring, and the infinitiy toilets with mirrored ceilings. And of course the quotes that adorn the walls in various places: let’s get sliced #nopizzeriapizza. This created an exciting interior with guts and fun.
