Pivot doors create a natural flow

A warm welcome was important to Marloes and Sander when they renovated the interior of their Tiel home. Modern chic textiles give the living room a warm and modern look. But it is the doors that embody their hospitality. Pivot doors, that is. Steel doors with three panes of glass fitted with clear glass, allowing light to penetrate deep into the house.

“When people come in, you notice that they are immediately drawn to the light. It makes so much sense to walk in that direction to our living room. The pivot doors invite you to explore the house, so to speak. We didn’t notice that until the doors were installed. At first we mainly saw the design,” says Sander. “We wanted pivot doors to give our interior extra class and a little vintage twist. The sleek details especially appealed to us. The rest of our interior is eclectic modern. The pivot doors are such a nice addition to that. Our TWIN DOORS have the tessellation of old steel doors, but the aluminum and minimalist handles make them very modern at the same time.”

Moving along in the walking direction
In the showroom in Geldermalsen, it was still a tough choice for a while. “We preferred pivot doors because they move along with the walking direction. Especially with our toddler daughter Rose, this is a plus. But how do you do that in an existing house? It turned out that it could be done just fine, even with underfloor heating. The hinge points of TWIN DOORS are quite shallow and after consulting with the contractor, it all came together just fine and the doors were installed quickly.”

Optical space
“What appeals to me the most? The space looks so much bigger. And … the clean lines. The whole interior is balanced. The bold metal and the prints on the wall contrast and harmonize at the same time. Both come out better. It’s like our house has become one because of the pivot doors.”
