Multifunctional staircase headquarters Bijenkorf

For the new headquarters of the Bijenkorf, we created 5 borde stairs. The stairwell is multifunctional and part of the various office spaces on the floors. This is because we also incorporated kitchens, seating areas and meeting spaces into the stairwell. The integration of flower boxes gives a natural and green effect.

We continued the linoleum on the floors into the stairwell, creating a nice contrast with the dark oiled wood and powder-coated steel railings. The chest stairs are made of rubberwood. The most ecological and sustainable wood species that exists in today’s wood industry.

Rubberwood is a waste product of depleted rubber trees mostly on large plantations in Southeast Asia. Instead of burning it, we turn it into stairs, a very environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative.
