Loft Ypres
Total design of a hull of purchased factory space.
With the wind and watertight unit as the basis for the Ypres loft, I was commissioned to transform this factory into a livable and attractive loft home for a single lady.
At the outset, all attention was focused on eliminating the numerous constructional problems that are specific to such a transformation. The entire surface was insulated to avoid all cold bridges with certainty.
In the conceptual division, the supporting structures, numerous windows and the patio were decisive. These are visually concealed and as a result, the window walls and the patio were kept in the right proportion.
The main residential functions run into each other almost uninterruptedly, while the more intimate functions are provided with a suitable closure. The whole exudes a balanced and modest atmosphere, despite the hefty size of 200 m² of the Ypres elevator.
