9700 Oudenaarde
Steenbakkerij Vande Moortel was founded in 1864 in the Scheldt valley in Oudenaarde. Today, it remains just as active on that very same site. Led by the Vande Moortel family, the company has grown into a major manufacturer in the premium segment of facing bricks and the Belgian market leader in clay pavers.
Throughout its long history, Steenbakkerij Vande Moortel has consistently embraced the latest technologies. It was one of the first manufacturers to introduce eco-sized 7 cm formats on a large scale, and the first European manufacturer to produce class A and A+ clay pavers. By acting proactively, Vande Moortel continues to meet the needs of today’s market as a manufacturer.
In addition to quality, the company has also invested heavily in capacity. The brickworks currently produces 95,000,000 bricks per year. Besides Belgium, part of this production is destined for neighbouring countries, the Nordic countries, Eastern Europe and other export markets such as Japan, America and the Arabian Peninsula.
By preserving its family-owned character, Steenbakkerij Vande Moortel remains an accessible company to this day. This openness at every level creates a highly customer-focused organisation for both private clients and professionals.
The bricks produced in Oudenaarde always meet the highest quality standards. They consistently perform above Belgian standards, which are among the strictest in the world. The clay pavers feature very low water absorption, and the facing bricks offer high compressive strength.
