After their studies in design and architecture, René van der Leest and Sigrid van Kleef decided to establish Studio Ruim. The creative duo has already completed several successful projects. Studio Ruim guides every project with enormous dedication, from design to realization and from lighting plan to interior. The duo’s best-known project is located on the Herengracht in Amsterdam.

The design studio is constantly looking for special places that tell a story and are a source of inspiration for both the duo and the clients. Every project begins with an introductory meeting, in which possibilities are sought to make living dreams come true.

Design styleModern, elegant, light and spacious are words that characterize the duo’s design style. Studio Ruim always uses natural materials, such as wood, steel, glass and stone, because these materials fit well with the natural atmosphere of an old monumental building. A balance is always sought between the new and old characteristics of the building. The lighting plan also receives a great deal of attention. Daylight and artificial light together can emphasize the strong characteristics of the architecture.
