Linfi: custom electrically operated floor hatches

Custom glass electric floor hatch

A polished glass surface sits inside the floor, cut through by a narrow stainless-steel edge that makes the opening read as part of the room rather than an added access point. The glass electric floor hatch was designed as a custom solution linking the kitchen area to the cellar below, with the floor line kept clean and the transition kept visible. In the closed position, the panel reflects the light ceramic tiles around it and leaves the connection below quietly embedded in the layout.

A floor opening that stays part of the room

What stands out first is the way the hatch sits flush in the tiled floor. The glass panel does not interrupt the room with a heavy frame or raised surround. Instead, the opening is contained by a crisp metal border and set into a pale interior with white built-in elements nearby. That makes the access to the cellar feel deliberate, not improvised. The result is a glass hatch for cellar access that keeps the floor legible even when the mechanism is not in motion.

Seen from above, the surface shifts between transparency and reflection. In one view the dark glass reads almost like a mirror, in another it acts as a clear cover over the opening. The custom electric floor hatch is tailored to that in-between role: closed, it follows the geometry of the tiles; open, it reveals the depth beneath the kitchen floor. The change in position is part of the composition, not something hidden away.

Electric movement and the visible mechanism

The electric operation leaves traces that are visible in the images. A metal armature, hinge line, and guiding profile sit around the opening, giving the hatch a technical clarity that matches the precise inlay. Rather than disguising the working parts, the design lets the stainless-steel edge profile remain readable. That detail gives the glass electric floor hatch its character: it is not only a panel of glass, but a built structure with a clear frame of reference.

In the open position, the floor opening becomes a vertical pause in the room. Light catches the metal edges, while the darker interior below gives depth to the shot. The surrounding cabinetry and pale wall panels keep the composition restrained, so the hatch remains the central move. Because the opening is lifted electrically, the access route to the cellar can be used without introducing a permanent visual break in the floor plane.

Glass, steel and the tiled floor around them

The material contrast is direct: glass above, stainless steel at the edge, ceramic tile around the perimeter. Each surface does a different job. The tiles create a calm base, the steel holds the opening sharply, and the glass either reflects the room or reveals the void below. This is where the glass floor hatch in tiled floor becomes most convincing. The materials are ordinary enough to fit a kitchen setting, but the way they are assembled gives the detail its strength.

A closer view shows the glass clamped into a vertical metal profile, with the edge kept thin and precise. The darkened tone visible in some images gives the panel a slightly smoked appearance, though the reflections make the surface read differently from angle to angle. That variability helps the hatch settle into the room. It catches light from the pale surroundings and turns the floor opening into a defined, controlled feature rather than a visual interruption.

Connection between kitchen and cellar

The project is built around access, but the access itself has been folded into the interior. The cellar connection sits directly beside the kitchen zone, so the floor hatch becomes part of a daily route rather than a separate utility element. The opening is practical, yet the visual emphasis stays on the floor plane. A room with light surfaces can easily be broken up by a technical detail; here, the hatch keeps that detail contained within a clean outline and a measured proportion.

Because the hatch is made to measure, it follows the surrounding floor and built-in joinery closely. The nearby white panels and flush cabinet fronts reinforce the straight lines in the room, while the stainless-steel edge profile adds a harder note at the opening. That combination gives the cellar access a precise finish without overworking the setting. The focus remains on how the hatch sits, lifts, and closes within the architecture of the floor itself.

Why the closed position matters

When the hatch is shut, the room reads differently. The glass panel becomes a single, reflective plane in the floor, and the cellar access recedes into the surface. That closed state is important to the project, because it shows how the opening can remain present without dominating the kitchen. The flush floor hatch keeps the visual field open, especially where light tiles and pale cabinetry already set a restrained tone.

The most revealing details are often the smallest ones: the line of the frame, the junction between glass and metal, the way the panel follows the tile grid. Those elements show the care of the custom electric floor hatch without needing extra explanation. The design depends on precision at the edge. That is where the opening becomes convincing, and where the glass electric floor hatch gains its quiet, built-in presence in the interior.

Seen across the sequence of images, the hatch moves from object to opening to surface again. Open, it exposes the depth below and the mechanism that lifts it. Closed, it settles back into the floor and works as a reflective layer between the kitchen and the cellar. The project shows how a glass hatch for cellar access can be integrated into a room without disturbing the rhythm of the tiles, the cabinetry, or the light that moves across the floor.
