The island reads as one continuous piece, but small changes in material make it more complex: marble on top, a VeroMetal finish below, and a quieter base in the floor reflection. It is a restrained composition, built from a few strong parts.

One of the clearest details is the way the island handles work. The integrated sink is set into the marbled plane without breaking the shape of the top. Nearby, round openings and cut-outs show how the surface has been planned for daily use rather than treated as a display piece. The effect is precise, but not cold. The edge lines stay soft, and that gives the whole kitchen a slower rhythm.

Open sightlines around the kitchen

The custom interior opens up around the island instead of closing in on it. A glass railing and glazed partition allow views toward the stair and living zone, so the kitchen remains visually connected to the rest of the house. White walls and narrow trim keep the background quiet, which lets the darker metal tones and the marble stand out. From different angles, the island keeps appearing in the foreground like a fixed point in the plan.

Storage is handled in built-in niches and open shelving along the wall. These recessed units break the flat surface of the room and give the kitchen a measured depth. The open shelves sit within a clean wall structure, with darker backing that makes the objects inside read clearly. It is a useful detail, but also a spatial one: the wall is not only a boundary, it also carries the kitchen’s smaller pieces and keeps them close at hand.

Wood steps and a glass edge

The staircase begins with timber treads and rises beside the kitchen in an open line. Metal balusters and a glass railing keep the profile light, so the stair does not cut the room apart. Instead, it marks a change in level while preserving the view through the interior. The white-painted half wall beside it reinforces that clarity, giving the stair a defined edge against the surrounding glazing.

Seen from the kitchen, the stair becomes part of the same composition as the island. Both are sculpted objects, but they work differently. The island spreads outward in the room; the stair moves upward through it. That contrast is one of the strongest spatial moments in the project, and it helps the plan feel open without losing structure. Wood, glass and metal each take on a separate role.

A timber beam ceiling above the living space

Overhead, the timber beam ceiling adds another layer to the room. The exposed beams make the roof structure legible, and their repeated lines slow the eye as it moves across the space. Against the white upper walls, the wood reads clearly. The ceiling does not hide the room’s construction; it gives it a visible frame. That makes the kitchen feel anchored, especially in the wider views where the beam pattern runs across the full interior.

The ceiling also works with the daylight. Large panes pull light deep into the room, and the pale wall surfaces reflect it back across the island and the staircase. You can read the whole arrangement in one glance: marbled worktop, open stair, glazed separation, and the beam grid above. Each part stays distinct, but none of them feels isolated. The room is arranged by sightlines as much as by walls.

Down to the wine cellar

From the oak staircase, the route drops to the wine cellar below. The descent is part of the experience. Wood underfoot, metal at the side, and a shift in light all signal the change from the kitchen level to the room beneath. The cellar is fitted with built-in racks in wood, set against marble or stone-backed surfaces that keep the shelves visually sharp. Ambient lighting runs through the storage wall and gives the bottles clear definition.

The wine cellar also works as a lounge space. A billiard table sits in the middle, leaving room around it for movement and for the wall storage to stay visible. Glass walls bring in reflections, so the room reads as enclosed but not heavy. The racks, lit from within, form a strong pattern along the perimeter, while the table anchors the center. It is a room built from storage, light and one central piece of furniture.

Built-in racks, stone backdrops and low light

The wooden wine racks are not treated as loose furniture. They are built into the room, with repeated openings that keep the bottles orderly and easy to read. Behind them, the marble and stone accents give the storage wall a sharper edge. The lighting is set into the structure rather than added on top, so the glow follows the shelves instead of washing over the entire cellar. That makes the bottles, the wood grain and the dark recesses visible at the same time.

In the cellar, the materials are quieter than upstairs, but the effect is more concentrated. Wood, stone and glass stay close together, and the room holds that mix without clutter. The billiard table leaves a broad pause in the middle, while the lit racks wrap around it. Together they create a lower, slower extension of the custom interior above, with the same attention to joinery and surface, only in a darker register.

What links the kitchen and the cellar is the way each space is built from fitted elements. The organic kitchen island carries the room from the start, the staircase turns the route into a visible gesture, and the wine cellar brings the material story down one level further. Marble, timber beams, glass separation and built-in storage each do a clear job. Nothing here is left generic; every surface has a task, and every turn in the plan shows it.
