Green city garden with lounge

A low parasol cuts across the view first. Beneath it, the lounge sits in the middle of a green city garden, with stone-look paving around the seating area and a planted edge that softens the transition to the lawn. The project is built around that everyday scene: shade, a clear route, and planting that keeps moving from border to border without losing structure.

Shaded seating framed by planting

The lounge area is set under a large parasol, which gives the seating zone a clear centre. Around it, the garden lounge in greenery is not isolated but wrapped by shrubs, grasses and flowering borders. The nearby paving has a stone-like surface and a curved outline, so the terrace does not feel cut off from the rest of the garden. Instead, the seating follows the line of the border and opens toward the lawn.

From one angle, the parasol sits against a denser plant layer; from another, the eye picks up the open grass surface and the change in height between paving and border. That shift matters. It gives the lounge a defined place without enclosing it too tightly. The result is a city garden with parasol shade that feels readable at a glance, even when the planting fills most of the frame.

Curved movement between patio and lawn

The garden path is not drawn as a straight connector. It bends gently through the layout, with a curved garden path that follows the edge of the planting and leads toward the lounge and patio zones. The paving pattern is visible in several images, with a brick- or stone-look finish that keeps the surface grounded. Those lines matter because they guide movement while also shaping the garden’s rhythm.

Near the lawn edge and mixed planting, the geometry becomes more precise. Rounded planting islands sit beside tighter border lines, and the lawn is trimmed into clean contours rather than broad, soft arcs. This makes the open green surface feel deliberate. It also lets the path, terrace and planting read as separate layers, each with its own line and texture.

Stone-look paving that carries the route

The paving does more than form a terrace. It carries the route through the garden, turning slightly as it approaches the seating area and extending the view toward the house side. In the close details, the surface shows a brick-like rhythm, while the larger views use that same material to connect the different zones. It is one of the quiet strengths of the project: the hard surfaces stay present without taking over the planting.

Flower borders beside the patio

The flower border by the patio brings colour right up to the edge of the hardscape. Purple and white flowering plants sit among shrubs and ornamental grasses, creating a border that changes from season to season in texture, even if the page only shows one moment. The planting is layered rather than flat. Lower flowers sit in front, while taller shrubs and tree canopies rise behind the hedge line.

That layering gives the garden depth. A dense hedge forms the back of the composition in several images, and tree crowns rise above it, breaking the horizontal line. In front, the border softens the edge of the patio and the lawn, so the green city garden with lounge does not rely on a single statement piece. It is built from repeated transitions: grass into border, border into terrace, terrace into seating.

A planted backdrop with clear depth

The strongest views rely on depth. A tall hedge or shrub layer closes off the back of the garden, while mixed planting fills the middle ground and the lawn stays open in front. This arrangement keeps the eye moving. The shade from the parasol lands on the seating area, but the garden itself remains bright enough to show the full line of the border and the curve of the path. Even the transparent screen detail appears as part of this layered setup, introducing a lighter vertical element among the plants.

The planting is not uniform. Some parts sit low and dense near the border, while others rise into shrubs and small trees. That variation matters in an urban setting where every square metre has to do several jobs at once. Here, planting gives privacy, guides the view and frames the lounge without turning the garden into a closed room. The result is a garden lounge in greenery that still leaves room for movement and outlook.

Edges that keep the garden crisp

One of the most effective details is the lawn edge. It is cut cleanly against the borders and the paving, so the garden never slips into softness. That crisp line works especially well next to the mixed planting, where the difference between grass, flowers and hard surface is easy to read. In the wider view, the edge helps the layout stay legible even when the planting is full and layered.

The same precision shows in the rounded border shapes. Curves are used, but they are controlled curves, not loose gestures. They guide the eye around the garden and keep the composition coherent without needing anything ornamental to force the point. The shape of the bed, the line of the path and the edge of the terrace all work together through simple geometry.

How the garden reads across the images

Across the image set, the garden shifts between close detail and longer views. One frame focuses on the parasol and the lounge; another follows the curved stone-look path; another places the flower border beside the patio; another shows the dense plant backdrop and the way tree crowns sit above it. Read together, those views present a green city garden with lounge as a sequence of layers rather than a single front-to-back composition.

The project also shows how a modest number of elements can carry a complete garden layout. A shaded seat, mixed planting, a clear lawn edge, a curved path and a border by the patio are enough to shape the whole. Because each line is visible and each material has its own place, the garden feels settled without becoming static. Photography by Annick Vernimmen documents those shifts in texture and scale clearly, from paving pattern to the top edge of the planting.
