Handleless kitchen with island and cabinet wall

Dark matte fronts set the tone straight away. The handleless kitchen with island draws a clean line through the room, while the cabinet wall gathers the cooking appliances into one tall plane. Light skims over the ceramic worktop and picks out the marble-look veining, so the darker surfaces do not read as flat. The result is a composed kitchen-dining setting where the island, storage wall and glazing work as one sequence rather than separate parts.

Matte fronts, sharp lines

The cabinetry is finished in an ultra-matte Carbon tone, which softens reflections and lets the volume of the units speak for itself. Because the kitchen is handleless, the front surfaces stay uninterrupted from one run to the next. That choice suits the long cabinet wall and the island equally well. Dark grey drawers slide fully out and close softly, a detail that shows up in use more than in photographs: the movement stays quiet, the lines stay level, and the fronts keep their calm appearance.

At the centre of the room, the island gives the layout its working focus. It holds the sink zone and sits low against the taller cabinetry behind it, so the room reads in layers. A high tap rises from the worktop and stands out against the dark finish. In the images, the island also leaves room for open leg space and clear circulation around the edges, which makes the plan feel practical without breaking the visual order of the room.

A ceramic worktop with a marble look

The work surface comes from the eye first. The ceramic worktop in Markina Black Honed has a marble-look pattern that is visible without becoming decorative. It runs across the island and gives the dark kitchen another texture to read against. Ceramic suits a working surface like this because it is heat-resistant, scratch-resistant, stain-resistant, low-maintenance and water-resistant, but here those qualities are expressed through the finish as much as the specification. The top remains visually firm and clean-edged, even around the sink zone.

Seen up close, the worktop changes the mood of the darker cabinetry. The surface catches light in fine bands and breaks up the block of black and charcoal fronts. That contrast is especially clear where the island meets the high tap and the sink cut-out. Instead of relying on ornament, the kitchen uses material difference: matte fronts, ceramic stone effect, and the smoother sheen of metal fittings. It is a restrained combination, but it gives the composition depth.

Storage that stays visually quiet

The cabinet wall keeps the appliances inside a single vertical composition. Tall fronts hide the refrigerator and dishwasher, while the oven stack is arranged at a comfortable working height. A combi-steam oven with touchscreen sits alongside a multifunction oven, with a warming drawer below. Because these elements are built into the wall, the room avoids a broken-up look. The line of dark cabinetry stays continuous, and the appliances appear where they are needed rather than dominating the view.

That same discipline carries through the cooking zone. The induction hob is finished in matte black glass and includes Bridge Induction and a wok burner, so the surface remains visually close to the rest of the kitchen. From the room, the cooking area reads as part of the worktop rather than a separate object. The built-in extraction strategy follows the same principle, keeping the eye on the horizontal surfaces and the tall storage wall instead of a prominent overhead hood.

Extraction kept out of the sightline

A ceiling extractor replaces the more visible hood that might have interrupted the view across the island and toward the windows. That decision matters in a room with such strong horizontal lines. The extractor disappears into the ceiling plane, leaving the dark cabinetry, the stone-look top and the glazing to carry the composition. It also keeps the kitchen open toward the dining area, where pendant lights with round glass shades hover above the timber table and add another layer of reflection after dark.

The dining zone sits close enough to belong to the kitchen, but it does not blur into it. The wooden table, the circular pendant shades and the long curtain line by the windows bring a softer rhythm to the harder kitchen materials. Seen together, the island and the table create a clear route through the room: cooking at one end, dining at the other, with the cabinet wall holding the back line in place. The result is a kitchen dining area that feels measured by objects and light, not by decoration.

Details that work in daily use

Small fittings reinforce that practicality. A Quooker tap in chrome sits beside a fixed soap dispenser, keeping the sink area compact and uncluttered. The choice of a chrome finish adds a lighter note against the dark worktop and cabinetry. Under the counter, the handleless drawers and integrated modules keep storage close at hand, while the fully extendable drawer fronts make the contents easy to reach. It is the kind of kitchen where the working parts are visible only when needed.

The overall composition is strong because each element has a clear place. The handleless kitchen with island anchors the room, the kitchen with cabinet wall contains the appliances, and the ceiling extractor leaves the sightline open between them. Even the darker tones feel measured rather than heavy, because the ceramic worktop, glass pendants and large window surfaces keep bringing light back into the space. What remains is a kitchen that reads cleanly from across the room and more closely in use.

Images of the project also show the setting around the kitchen: a modern house with a thatched roof, white volumes and broad glass openings, plus a terrace and water edge outside. Those exterior views are separate from the interior, but they help explain the scale of the glazing and the amount of daylight entering the room. Inside, the dark matte kitchen cabinets respond to that light with a low sheen, while the island and cabinet wall keep the plan grounded and clear.
