The interior was approached as one complete commission, with the exterior material choices, the wooden window frames, the lift interior, and the built-in joinery all developed alongside the rooms themselves. That way of working is visible in every transition: from the large windows to the cabinetry, from the flooring pattern to the soft texture of the curtains.

The project was developed as an integral home interior design with custom wood and stone, rather than as a series of separate rooms. The same attention appears in the colour plan, the furniture choices, the lighting, and the upholstery. A light base of walls and ceilings gives the timber elements room to stand out, while darker lines in the frames, fittings, and window edges sharpen the edges of the interior. The result is a house where the rooms speak to each other through material and tone, not through repetition.

That approach also extends to the retained authentic elements. Instead of replacing them, the interior places vintage pieces beside newer furniture and contemporary lighting. The mix is restrained in its composition, but it gives the rooms visible depth. A polished lamp, a worn edge on a chair, and the grain of the wood all read differently, yet they sit within the same palette. The project does not chase a period look; it lets older details remain legible while introducing fresh surfaces around them.

Custom woodwork around the kitchen and living spaces

In the kitchen, the custom wood kitchen is built around tall wall cabinets, open compartments, and a stone-like backsplash that catches the light near the sink. The wood fronts soften the long verticals, while the marble-like surface adds a cooler note behind the work area. Together they create the kind of contrast that comes from touch and use: smooth stone where water lands, timber where storage needs to disappear, and a clear worktop line between them. The joinery is precise, but it never feels overdrawn.

Elsewhere, interior cabinetry and millwork continue that same line of thinking. Shelving, panelled surfaces, and fitted elements are used to define the room without crowding it. In several views, the cabinetry frames windows or sits low beneath them, so the daylight can pass above the built-in pieces. This makes the wood feel architectural rather than decorative. It also keeps the room open around the larger openings, where the natural light lands on the pale surfaces before dropping onto the timber.

Stone, glass and a working wall that carries the room

The kitchen wall with stone accent is one of the clearest material moments in the house. Its pale, marble-like surface stretches around the sink zone and continues into the surrounding niche, where it meets glass shelves and metal supports. The composition is practical, but the visual effect depends on alignment: the shelves hover lightly in front of the wall, and the stone surface gives the whole area a quieter background. A rail with spotlights above adds a controlled band of light across the worktop and upper cabinets.

Because the built-in storage stays in warm timber, the stone surface does not need to do all the work on its own. It has a supporting role, not a theatrical one. That restraint is important in a home where the same material language appears in different rooms. The wood and stone interior details are repeated with variation, so the kitchen reads as part of the broader interior rather than as a separate statement space.

Flooring, curtains and the way daylight moves

The flooring pattern is visible as soon as the eye moves away from the cabinets. A herringbone or slatted parquet flooring pattern brings direction to the rooms and gives the light something to catch on. It is a useful counterpoint to the larger, calmer surfaces above it. In brighter areas, the floor pattern acts almost like a quiet drawing under the furniture, especially where a sofa or bench sits near the windows. The timber underfoot ties the kitchen, living room, and adjoining spaces together without introducing another colour. A ceiling fan light fixture sits above the seating area, while the patterned drapery and panelled window surrounds break up the long wall of glass. White joinery below the windows keeps the lower edge clean, and the warm light home interior reads differently at different times of day. In the morning, the timber brightens; later, the curtains absorb more of the light and the surfaces become softer.

Details carried through the lift and the more private rooms

One of the more unusual parts of the brief was the designed lift interior. It shows that the project was not limited to the main living level, but carried through to the smaller, transitional spaces as well. The lift joins the same family of finishes as the rest of the house, so it feels like part of the interior language rather than an inserted box. That continuity is important in a project built around a colour plan interior, where even a compact enclosed space can reinforce the larger composition.

The private rooms keep that measured tone. In the bedroom, a bed nook wall lamp marks the wall with a soft pool of light, and the fabric at the window filters the day before it reaches the bed. The arrangement is modest, but the surfaces are carefully chosen: timber, textile, painted wall, and the pale bedding all remain close in value. That closeness makes the room feel settled without relying on heavy ornament. It is the same strategy used elsewhere in the house, only reduced to a quieter scale.

Bathroom surfaces and the last layer of texture

The bathroom extends the project’s material logic with large tiled walls, a freestanding tub, and a black-framed window that sharpens the corner of the room. The tiles create a calm background, while the tub sits in front of it as a simple white volume. Here again, the detail is in the edges: the narrow window opening, the curtain beside it, and the slight variation in the flooring pattern bring movement into an otherwise restrained space. The room feels linked to the rest of the home through those same clear surfaces.

What holds the project together is not a single gesture, but the repeated attention to how pieces meet. The colour plan, the furniture, the lighting, the upholstery, and the retained authentic elements all play a role. Seen across the rooms, the house moves between wood, stone, fabric, and light with little interruption.
