Intensive roof garden with experience zones
In this project, the brand new sleek interior called for a minimalist infill for the roof terrace. The desire was to expand the existing terrace in large format natural stone tiles with additional space for relaxation and cozy moments together with family and friends. For these art lovers, it was also very important to create space for some pieces from their art collection.
The biggest challenge in the design and during construction was eliminating a fixed beam across the full width of the patio. We solved this by creating a level difference. This staircase and the raised planters give the space a natural layout: on the one hand, “wining & dining” in line with the kitchen and on the other, “lounging & relaxing” on the level.
For the planting, we chose evergreen perennial structures combined with ornamental grasses and multi-stemmed deciduous trees. The plantings are easy to maintain and bring year-round experience to the garden.
