The carpet settles the room before anything else does. Nearly all carpets are produced to measure, which allows the size and shape to suit the interior rather than forcing the interior to adjust to the carpet. That combination of technical production and handmade finishing is visible in the way the carpet sits flush with the room. It feels planned, not generic. That is also what makes the handmade carpet readable in a contemporary setting.

Dark built-ins, light textiles, and a clear room structure

One of the strongest contrasts in the photographs comes from the interplay between dark architectural elements and pale textiles. A deep wall unit or niche cuts into the composition on one side, while the carpet and upholstery keep the center of the room lighter. The effect is practical as much as visual: the seating area gains a clear boundary, and the eye can move from the dark recess to the lighter floor plane without interruption.

Furniture stays low and horizontal, which makes the carpet surface feel wider. Cushions in muted colours repeat the tones of the floor, while a blue sofa in one view introduces a cooler note against the warmer base. The collection has been available in interior shops since 2014 and is supplied to interior architects in the Netherlands and abroad. That context explains the measured tone of the project. The carpet is not framed as a standalone object, but as part of a broader interior brief where scale, finish, and placement matter. In these rooms, the carpet has to work with daylight, glazing, and built-in lighting, and it does so by staying visually controlled.

What comes through most clearly is the relationship between craft and layout. The carpet looks made for the room because it is. Its edges, tone, and surface all support the seating plan rather than interrupt it.
