Modern poolhouse with swimming pool

Black slats, wide glass panels and a timber-lined interior set the tone before the water comes into view. The poolhouse sits tightly beside the rectangular swimming pool, with a clear line from terrace to seating area and back out again. It reads as one outdoor room rather than two separate parts, with the glazed opening drawing daylight deep inside and the overhang giving the front edge a stronger frame.

Poolhouse beside a rectangular swimming pool

The most direct view is also the most telling: a modern poolhouse placed right next to the pool, with the long water basin running parallel to the glass opening. That relation shapes the whole project. From the terrace, the eye moves across the pool border, along the wood deck terrace, and into the interior where the seating area sits under the roofline. The result is a compact plan with a clear route between swimming, resting and gathering.

The project text describes the poolhouse as a multifunctional space, and the images make that easy to read. A lounge corner is set close to the glass, while the fully equipped kitchen extends the use of the room beyond a quick stop after a swim. Nothing feels overworked. The furniture, the opening and the hard surfaces all stay close to the architecture, so the room can shift from quiet pause to shared meal without changing character.

Glass opening, shade and the view back to the terrace

The large glass opening does most of the spatial work. It opens the poolhouse to the terrace and brings the outdoor seating area into the room’s main axis. Above it, the overhang softens direct sun and gives the opening a deeper shadow line, which makes the facade read more clearly from the garden side. Inside, the glazed edge also keeps the seating area visually connected to the rectangular swimming pool, even when the doors are closed.

Seen from a distance, the black slatted facade holds the building together. Up close, the rhythm changes between closed surfaces and transparent parts, so the poolhouse never feels flat. The dark exterior frame also makes the lighter timber inside stand out. That contrast is repeated in smaller moves: black profiles around the glazing, darker wall planes, then warm wood on the inner surfaces and the terrace edge outside. The materials do not compete; they mark out the room.

Thermal modified wood and a restrained material palette

Thermal modified wood appears in the project data, and it fits the visible reading of the room: warm-toned timber, used where touch and finish matter. The wood softens the hard geometry of the structure and keeps the interior from becoming too reflective next to the glass. On the terrace, the wood deck terrace edge forms a practical transition between the pool border and the surrounding paving. The surface change is subtle, but it is what gives the outdoor zone its order.

That restraint continues in the paving around the water. Straight joints, clean borders and the long rectangular shape of the pool keep the composition disciplined. The poolhouse does not sit apart as a decorative object. It is tied to the terrace by its materials and by the way the opening aligns with the water. Even the seating arrangement feels chosen to face that relationship, rather than to fill space for its own sake.

The outdoor seating area as part of daily use

The outdoor seating area is one of the clearest signs that the poolhouse is designed for more than storage or shade. In the images, chairs and a table sit close to the opening, with the terrace stretching around them and the pool just beyond. That setting supports the kitchen function inside. It also explains why the room can handle long periods outdoors: there is a place to sit, a place to prepare food, and a direct route back to the water.

At terrace level, the project becomes more detailed. The paving sits in sharp planes, and the pool edge is handled with a neat border that meets the wooden deck without visual noise. A few steps, a slight level change and the line of planting around the garden edge help contain the space. The hagen in the background do not shout for attention, but they do one important thing: they keep the geometry of the poolhouse, terrace and swimming pool legible.

Interiors that stay close to the structure

Inside the poolhouse, the timber surfaces carry the same discipline as the exterior. Horizontal wooden slats create a steady backdrop for the seating area, and the room keeps its focus on use rather than decoration. Light from the glass opening washes across the wood and picks up the edges of the furniture. The interior feels fitted to the shell of the building, with the kitchen and lounge sharing the same measured footprint.

The images also show how the black and timber elements work together across the threshold. A dark wall plane can sit beside a lighter wooden run, then turn toward the glass and repeat outside as slatted cladding. That repetition helps the poolhouse read as a single architectural object. It is especially clear in the details: the door profiles, the underside of the overhang, and the way the interior wood continues the line of the exterior frame.

A poolhouse project built around movement

What gives this poolhouse its clarity is the movement through it. Step from the pool, cross the terrace, pass the glazed opening, and arrive in the seating area or at the kitchen. The sequence is short, but each part has a visible role. The rectangular swimming pool sets the direction, the wood deck terrace marks the threshold, and the black slatted facade holds the composition in place. Nothing is left vague, and that makes the outdoor room easy to read at a glance.

The final impression comes from proportion rather than decoration. Broad glass, narrow slats and straight paving lines keep the structure calm and focused. The poolhouse with swimming pool works because the elements are linked by use: sit, cook, step out, dry off, look back across the water. The project never needs to state more than that. The material choices and the plan already say enough.
