Modern villa garden with a swimming pond and terrace

A long strip of water runs beside the house, catching the sky and the dark edge of the terrace in one glance. That clear line sets the tone for this modern villa garden, where glass, stone and clipped planting keep the route between house and outside space direct. The large garden is not treated as a backdrop. It reads as part of the daily living space, with indoor-outdoor views that pull the eye from the glazed rooms to the lawn, the trees and the swimming pond in garden.

Glass openings that keep the garden in view

The villa opens through large panes and dark frames, so the rooms do not stop at the wall. Reflections on the glass bring the trees and planting back into the interior, while the vertical wood slat facade adds a calmer rhythm at the edge of the volume. From inside, the garden appears in layers: first the terrace, then the lawn with clipped shrubs, then the water beyond. Those overlapping planes make the modern villa garden read as one continuous composition rather than a series of separate parts.

Small shifts in level help the route outside feel measured. A stone step, a paved strip and a low wall guide movement around the house without drawing attention to themselves. The materials stay restrained: pale stone underfoot, glass above, wood as a vertical accent. Because the surfaces are kept clear and regular, the planting carries more weight. Trees rise behind the lawn and give the garden its shade, while the tighter borders keep the edges crisp.

The terrace as the main outdoor room

The large terrace garden design is sized for lingering rather than passing through. It sits close to the house and opens toward the lawn, so conversations can move easily between the two zones. In the photographs, the terrace edge is defined by stone slabs and a low retaining line beside the water, which keeps the outdoor room visually tidy without making it feel fenced in. The result is a practical platform for sitting outside, but also a clear architectural pause between interior and garden.

What makes the terrace work is the way it holds the view. From the seating edge, the eye travels across the paved surface, over the planted border and toward the reflective pond. The path does not compete with the setting; it gives the garden a readable structure. That same order appears in the repeated round shrubs on the lawn, which break up the green plane and add a measured pattern near the house. In this modern villa garden, the terrace is not an afterthought. It anchors the whole outdoor sequence.

Stone, shade and a direct route outdoors

Stone surfaces appear in several places, from the terrace to the connecting paths, and they keep the circulation legible. The paving is clean-lined and calm, with enough width to move comfortably between the house, the lawn and the water. Trees around the garden soften the hard edges and cast shade across the grass. That shade matters here: it frames the open parts of the garden and gives the large plot a stronger sense of depth. Rather than filling every corner, the design leaves room for sky, reflections and open lawn.

A swimming pond that changes the atmosphere of the garden

The swimming pond in garden is the element that catches attention first, not because it is loud, but because it stretches the view. Its narrow, reflective surface mirrors the trees and the building line, so the water seems to lengthen the site. On warm days it also brings a cooler note to the garden, which is exactly how the project describes it. Positioned beside the terrace, the pond gives the outdoor space a second focus point and makes the transition from living area to garden feel active.

There is a clear architectural quality to the water edge. A low wall and straight border keep the pond sharply defined, while the dark surface deepens the reflections. Seen from the lawn, it reads almost like a horizontal cut in the garden. Seen from the house, it aligns with the glazing and extends the indoor-outdoor views. The pond is therefore more than a decorative insert. It shapes how the villa is experienced from several angles, which is why it fits so naturally into the modern villa garden.

Planting that frames rather than covers

Instead of dense mass planting, the garden relies on a few clear moves: a broad lawn, repeated clipped shrubs, trees at the perimeter and low borders close to the house. That structure keeps sightlines open. It also allows the house to remain visible through the planting, especially where the glass and wood slat facade meet the garden edge. The rounded shrubs act almost like markers in the grass, giving scale to the open area without breaking the simplicity of the layout. Their repetition strengthens the rhythm along the path.

The lawn itself is generous, but it is never left blank. Its edge is shaped by planted zones and by the line of the terrace, which keeps the garden from feeling undefined. The planting around the perimeter does a practical job as well: it creates privacy and filters the view from outside. Those taller elements, combined with the trees, turn the garden into a sheltered setting without closing it off. That openness is part of the appeal of this modern villa garden, where the boundaries are present but not heavy.

Materials chosen with the setting in mind

Duurzaamheid is present in the project through the use of ecological materials in the garden and through the attention paid to the natural surroundings. The text does not push that aspect loudly, and it does not need to. The choice of restrained materials, the clear relation to the planting and the decision to let the garden keep its open structure already support that reading. Glass, stone and wood are used in a way that leaves room for the landscape to remain visible.

That sensitivity is also visible in the way the house meets the garden. The façade elements stay disciplined, with dark frames around the glazing and a vertical wood slat facade that breaks the surface without adding clutter. These details keep the architecture grounded while the garden carries the softer work of shade, privacy and reflection. Together they create a setting where the villa, the terrace and the swimming pond in garden all remain in one line of sight, from inside the rooms to the far edge of the lawn.
