In the close detail, the cut-out becomes a quiet but exact piece of joinery within the concrete. The project also shows how a few precise moves can define an entire space: a thicker cooking edge, controls coming out of the concrete, and a beer tap cut-out in the countertop with a drip section. Those details are modest in scale, but they set the tone of the whole composition. Around them, the black frames, timber accents and long sightline to water keep the room open. The concrete kitchen bar remains the clearest statement, because it is both the working surface and the visual centre of the orangery outdoor kitchen.
