Location and history
The apartment is located in a stately national monument located on the Prinsengracht in the center of Amsterdam. The canal, named after the Prince of Orange, is the outermost of the four main canals belonging to the ring of canals.

The building consists of a front house with a back house. This apartment is located in the back house overlooking the green courtyard gardens. The back house, consisting of three floors, still has several beautiful elements from the 17th and 18th centuries such as and high beamed ceilings. The house was last remodeled in the 1990s and was now very dated.

Design
The existing apartment was completely gutted and the layout changed. A complex task was that the building had subsided unevenly; the difference between the front and back of the apartment was as much as 19 cm!
A new entrance has been created with double steel doors with glass that provides natural light to the stairwell and a view through to the living kitchen. The stairwell was renovated with the installation of two new solid oak Z-stairs. In the living kitchen, we installed the kitchen along the entire length of the back house. On the side of the dining area, we designed a gas fireplace on the countertop. The kitchen itself is equipped with Bora cooktop and various luxury Gaggenau appliances. The entire kitchen is from the Italian brand Boffi.

On the second floor is the living room with separate guest room and bathroom. The attic floor contains the master bedroom, en-suite bathroom and a loggia roof terrace.
