Personal architecture
The well-known phrase in architecture, ‘Form Follows Function,’ means that a building’s design is determined by its intended function or ultimate use. We believe in ‘Design Follows Personality,’ which means that, together with the client and drawing on our expertise, we create a bespoke design that gives each project its own unique character. The client’s identity is woven into the design, naturally enhancing the living environment and helping people feel at home more quickly in the buildings we design. Every project has its own story, and the diversity created through ‘Design Follows Personality’ is reflected in our portfolio.
Optimal experience
The world is becoming busier, making the feeling of space around us increasingly important. In our designs, the experience of space is therefore a key aspect. Verandas, patios, voids, skylights, sightlines and visual connections are recurring elements in our work. By applying different materials and colour accents, combined with clean design lines, we create beautiful contrasts and depth. We design buildings that perform well on every level, both practically and aesthetically, while offering an optimal spatial experience. We guide the design process in phases, paying close attention to the client’s wishes at every step. Combined with the reliability, expertise and quality of the firm, this forms the basis for successfully delivering projects.
Specialism
The architectural practice specialises in new-build and renovation of homes, as well as the restoration, transformation and remodelling of existing buildings. In recent years, the firm has successfully designed, built and remodelled a wide range of high-end villas, houses, apartments, canal houses, listed buildings and country estates. Maxim Winkelaar’s work has been included, among others, in the internationally published book “Reactivate! – Innovators of Dutch architecture”.
