Outdoor garden room with fireplace

The first thing you notice is the roofline: white timber beams running across an open-sided canopy, with the dark terrace below setting a clear edge to the space. Under that cover sits an outdoor garden room fireplace, tucked into a black wall that reads as both a hearth and a backdrop. The contrast is immediate, but it is the details around it that hold the view: the white timber frame, the X-panel inserts, and the straight joints in the paving.

A canopy that leaves the sides open

The timber garden room canopy does not close the garden off. Instead, the open sides keep the terrace connected to the lawn and the planting beyond it. White posts and horizontal members draw a clean frame around the seating area, while the ceiling structure stays visible overhead. The result is a sheltered zone that still feels exposed to the wider garden, with sightlines passing through the openings rather than stopping at a wall.

That open layout makes the black cladding on the back wall stand out even more. Its dark surface pulls the eye toward the fire zone and gives the outdoor garden room fireplace a clear anchor. In the close-ups, the change from white timber to black surface happens at a sharp corner, with the join left visible rather than softened away. It is a small detail, but it defines the whole composition.

The fire niche and the wall behind it

The fireplace outdoor niche is set into a dark wall with a recessed opening and a built-in firewood storage niche beside it. The wood stack sits in its own cavity, so the logs become part of the wall rather than a separate pile on the terrace. That arrangement gives the fire area a measured, built-in look. Above it, a visible flue rises through the structure and breaks the roofline with a straight vertical line.

Brickwork appears behind the flue and around the chimney area, adding a rougher note to the otherwise painted and clad surfaces. The black wall below has a horizontal grain, while the masonry above it brings another texture into the frame. Because the fire niche sits low and the flue runs upward, the whole wall reads as a stacked sequence: storage at one side, opening at the center, exhaust above. Nothing is hidden for effect.

Black cladding and exposed joins

Seen up close, the black cladding has a surface texture that catches light in thin bands. It is not a flat backdrop. The grain and the seams register when the camera moves in, especially where the wall meets the white frame. Those exposed joins matter, because they show how the timber construction and the dark cladding meet without decorative trim. The outdoor garden room fireplace depends on that clear edge between light and dark.

Elsewhere, the black surfaces continue across the wall plane and into the niche around the fire. The repetition of that dark tone keeps the focus on openings: the fire recess, the storage niche, and the gaps between frame members. It also makes the white x-shapes in the timber work read more strongly. Against the dark wall, the white elements become structural markers rather than ornament.

White X-panels as a counterpoint

The white X panels appear in the timber screening and side sections, where diagonal braces break up the rectangles formed by the posts and rails. These panels give the garden room a distinct rhythm. They are not just decorative inserts; they help divide the open areas and make the structure legible from a distance. In the terrace view, the white diagonals stand out against the darker backdrop and lead the eye back toward the fireplace wall.

In the closer images, the X-panel detail feels almost like a drawing traced in wood. The paint catches more light than the black cladding, so the frame lines seem sharper and the openings around them deeper. That contrast is strongest where the white members meet the dark wall, and it gives the timber garden room canopy a clear visual order. The fireplace outdoor niche is then read within that order, not apart from it.

Dark terrace paving under the cover

The terrace paving is made up of dark outdoor tiles laid with straight joints. Those lines give the floor a measured grid, which suits the strong geometry of the canopy above. Because the paving is dark, it lets the white timber frame and the black cladding do the visual work. The floor does not compete with the wall or the fire niche; it simply extends the room outward and holds the seating area in place.

At the edge of the canopy, the tiles meet the garden in a neat transition. You can see the terrace as a surface that belongs to the structure, not as an afterthought added beside it. The dark floor also frames the lighter furniture pieces visible in some views, making the whole setting easier to read. In this outdoor garden room with fireplace, the paving is part of the composition from the start.

What the details do together

The project is built from a few clear moves: open sides, a dark fire wall, white timber members, and a tiled terrace. None of those elements is overworked. The canopy keeps the garden room airy, the black cladding gives the fireplace niche a strong edge, and the X-panels stop the timber frame from feeling too plain. Each part has a visible role, and the join between them is where the image becomes most precise.

That precision is what stays with you. The chimney/flue rises above the roof, the wood storage sits neatly beside the fire opening, and the terrace tiles run on below in straight lines. Even with the garden visible in the background, the composition stays focused on the covered room itself. As a garden room with fireplace, it is defined less by decoration than by the way timber, masonry, and paving meet in plain view.
