Thatched-roof villa with composed volumes

A thatched-roof villa like this starts with its shape: several volumes set side by side, stretched wide across the plot so the rooms can open toward both garden and street. The roofline breaks and rises in different parts, while the white walls and dark timber details keep the massing clear. With a south-facing garden, the house is set up for long views outside and for daily use of the terrace and lawn.

Wide planning with room to move

The broad layout makes the ground floor easy to read. From the generous hall, the main living room opens up, with a separate garden room beside it. That second space sits close enough to extend the day-to-day rhythm of the house, yet apart enough to be used on its own. The composition of the volumes is not just visual; it shapes how the rooms relate to the garden, the entrance side and the paths between them.

At the heart of the plan is the kitchen, placed next to the living spaces and fitted with pivot doors that can close it off when needed. Behind it are the study, playroom and utility room, so the ground floor keeps family life within short reach. The arrangement gives the house a practical center without losing sight of the larger spatial move: a villa with composed volumes, laid out to work across the full width of the plot.

White surfaces, dark timber and a roof that settles the house

Seen from outside, the villa combines white rendered walls with dark timber elements and broad window openings. The contrast is immediate but restrained. The thatched roof softens the outline of the different parts, especially where the roof planes meet above the framed gables. In the images, the roof is not a single blanket of material; it is built up in several sections, which helps the house read as a sequence of volumes rather than one closed block.

That structure is reinforced by the openings. Dark frames set the windows deeper into the walls, and the larger panes pull in light while keeping the exterior composed. Along the access side and the garden side, the details shift slightly, but the same language remains: white plane, dark edge, roof above. For a modern thatched home, that restraint does a lot of work. It keeps the architecture legible even when the plan is generous and varied.

A garden room that sits close to the house

The separate garden room is one of the clearest spatial moves in the project. It gives the house an extra layer facing the garden, not as an afterthought but as part of the overall plan. With the south-facing garden outside, the room can follow the light through the day, while terraces and lawn lie just beyond the windows. In the exterior views, the ground plane is visible in grind, paving and grass, so the transition from house to garden stays precise.

That edge between inside and outside also appears in the broader setting around the villa. Pathways run alongside the façades, and the openings are sized to look out rather than merely to admit light. The result is a villa with thatched roof that uses its width well: rooms are oriented to different sides, and the garden side never feels secondary. Even the exterior circulation seems to be part of the interior plan.

A family house arranged around everyday routines

The floor plan keeps the most used rooms close together without crowding them. The living room, garden room and kitchen form the main social zone, while the study, playroom and utility room sit just behind. That makes it easy to move from one task to another, and it keeps the lower level active throughout the day. The composition suits a household that needs clear zones, but not long corridors or disconnected rooms.

Upstairs, the plan continues with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a separate toilet and a hobby room. The main bedroom has its own walk-in closet, toilet and bathroom with a view toward the garden. That sequence is straightforward and contained. Instead of hiding the private rooms away completely, the plan gives them a calm position in the house, with enough openness to relate back to the outside. It is a modern thatched home, but the priority is really the way the rooms are used.

Interior design and lighting plan as part of the architecture

The interior design was developed alongside the building itself, including custom elements and the lighting plan. That matters here because the house depends on transitions: from hall to living room, from kitchen to garden room, from the main bedroom to the garden view. Light is used to underline those changes in mood and function. Rather than treating the lighting as an afterthought, the project uses it to support the architecture already present in the plan.

Custom interior work also means the rooms can carry the same direct language as the exterior. The plan is spacious, but the detailing keeps it grounded. Openings, doors and built-in parts all have to fit the width of the house and the variety of spaces within it. In a villa with composed volumes, that internal consistency is what allows the larger form to hold together over time, room by room.

Built as a house to live in, not just to look at

The strongest quality of this thatched-roof villa is the way it joins the visible and the practical. The broad footprint gives each room a clear orientation, the garden room extends the living area toward the south-facing garden, and the kitchen can be closed off when needed with pivot doors. Upstairs, the bedroom wing and hobby room add to that domestic rhythm. Nothing is oversized for its own sake; the rooms are simply placed where they can do the most work.

What stays with you is the combination of roof, volume and plan. The white surfaces, dark timber and thatch create a clear exterior image, while the interior design and lighting plan shape how the house feels once you step inside. It is a villa with a thatched roof that uses composition rather than excess, and that is what gives the project its lasting appeal as a family home.
