Custom kitchen with slatted wood wall

The slatted wood wall sets the tone before the island even comes into view. Vertical timber lines run across the room, turning a storage wall into the main surface of the plan. What first reads as a plain panelled backdrop reveals doors, openings and deep recesses built into the joinery. The result is a custom kitchen that uses the wall itself as part of the layout, with every section doing more than one job.

Slatted wood wall with hidden routes and storage

The wooden wall is not treated as a single block. Left of centre, a door disappears into the joinery and leads to another room. On the right, a large niche opens up the surface and introduces a clear pause in the timber rhythm. That recess holds a coffee corner and a rail for wine glasses, so the wall shifts from closed storage to a working part of the kitchen. It is a strong example of a slatted wood kitchen wall that carries both circulation and storage.

Dark built-in appliances sit inside the timber field and keep the eye moving along the grain of the wood. The black fronts contrast with the lighter vertical slats, while the open niches break the wall into useful segments. In the room photographs, the wall also frames a view toward the dining area, so the joinery is read at both close range and from across the space. That wider view matters here: it shows how a bespoke kitchen can use one long surface to organise doors, equipment and display.

A kitchen island bar with brass-toned surfaces

The island changes the material mood. Its bar section is made of brass, and the gold-toned surface catches the light differently from the wood behind it. Rather than standing apart as decoration, the metal front gives the island a distinct edge and marks it as the centre of the room. Seen from the dining side, the island reads as a sculptural block with clear lines, a dark work area and a brighter lower face. This is where the kitchen island bar becomes the room’s visual anchor.

Above the island, the hanging extractor is suspended on steel wires and spindles, leaving the ceiling visually lighter than a bulkier hood would. The detail is technical, but it also changes the way the room is read: the island remains open, and the line of sight can continue across the space. In the same view, pendant lights hover over the worktop and underline the long horizontal axis of the kitchen. The combination of the brass island, dark cabinetry and suspended hood keeps the plan sharp and legible.

Black appliances set into the timber wall

Black equipment is built into the wooden wall rather than added as separate objects. The Quooker tap, the Siemens appliances and the wine climate cabinet all sit within the joinery so the timber remains the dominant surface. This approach gives the room a quieter face, but it also makes the details easier to read: a dark handle line, a reflective glass door, a slim opening around an appliance. In a custom kitchen like this, the equipment becomes part of the architecture of the wall.

The worktop is described as Dekton, and its use fits the rest of the room’s direct material language. The surface is presented as heat-resistant, scratch-resistant, non-porous, waterproof, stain-resistant and easy to maintain. Those qualities are practical, but in the photographs the effect is visual as well: a clean, even plane that runs along the kitchen without drawing attention away from the timber and metal around it. The dark edge of the work area gives the island a crisp outline.

Coffee niche and wine storage inside one wall

The recessed niche on the right side of the wall gives the kitchen a second register. At one level it is a service area, with the coffee setup placed where it can be reached without interrupting the main cooking zone. At another level it acts as a display cut-out, because the hanging rack for wine glasses turns an everyday storage solution into something more open. The niche is deep enough to feel purposeful, but not so large that it breaks the wall apart. It is a compact coffee niche in kitchen that holds small rituals in one place.

Wine storage in the kitchen is handled in the same integrated way. The wine climate cabinet sits alongside the black built-ins, so bottles and glassware are not scattered across the room. From the open-plan view, these details sit behind the island and near the dining area, which keeps the flow of the room clear. The wall works like a carefully edited surface: door, niche, appliance, storage. Each segment has its own function, but none of them feels isolated from the rest.

Open sightlines between kitchen and dining area

The room opens toward the dining zone, and that long view is one of the most telling parts of the project. From this angle, the timber wall, the island and the hanging lights are read together rather than as separate elements. The curtains at the window add a softer colour note, but the strongest impression comes from the built surfaces: slatted wood, dark fronts, brass and a pale worktop edge. Because the plan stays open, the kitchen never loses contact with the room beside it.

That openness also explains why the layout feels so controlled. The door in the wall, the coffee recess and the appliance bank all sit in a line that supports movement through the space. Nothing looks inserted after the fact. The joinery holds the route, the storage and the equipment in one continuous composition, while the island keeps the centre of gravity low and clear. It is a restrained use of materials, but every surface has a job, and that makes the room easy to read from multiple points.

The finished impression depends on contrast rather than excess. Wood gives the wall its rhythm, brass brings a warmer metal note to the island, and the black built-ins keep the composition grounded. Between them sits the Dekton worktop, a pale plane that cuts through the darker lower volumes. Seen together, those elements define a modern luxury kitchen that is detailed without being crowded. The space relies on joinery, recesses and surface changes to carry the design, not on ornament.
