Modern bungalow with strong lines

The long roof plane pulls the eye across the site before the glazing takes over. Dark surfaces, precise joints and a restrained profile give the modern bungalow with strong lines its rhythm. From a distance the house reads quietly; up close, the continuity of the detailing becomes clear. The facade seams keep running, the frames stay sharp, and the composition gains length from the wide wall and gate set exactly in line with the building.

Long lines set the pace

The overall volume is modest in scale, but the layout stretches out in a way that feels deliberate. The dark roof planes sit low above the masonry, while the linear composition keeps the house from feeling compact. A long wall at the side and the broad gate at the entrance extend that direction even further. It is the kind of arrangement where the site boundary, the roof edge and the openings all seem to answer the same line.

That attention to line carries through the envelope. The seams in the refined cladding continue from surface to surface, so the outer shell reads as one carefully resolved frame rather than a set of separate parts. The result is not about display. It is about control of proportion, the way a narrow edge can sharpen a volume, and how a simple opening can make the length of the house feel more pronounced.

Large glass openings draw the garden closer

At the rear, large glass openings open the house toward the terrace and the outdoor space beyond. The windows can slide fully aside, which changes the edge of the living area from fixed wall to open threshold. Under the cover, the terrace sits as a sheltered strip between interior and garden. The connection is direct, and the view is kept low and wide, so the planting and paving remain part of the room-like experience.

This indoor-outdoor connection is reinforced by the way the rear elevation stays open to light. Glass, overhang and paving line up in a single sequence. The terrace does not read as an add-on. It is part of the plan. From inside, the garden stays visible across a broad opening; from outside, the interior is still legible through the clear span of glass.

A terrace with cover as a working threshold

The covered terrace has enough depth to register as a real transition zone. It softens the shift from floor to garden without losing the straightness of the house. The cover repeats the clean lines of the roof, and the opening below it frames the outside in a measured way. That is where the project becomes most readable: one long line in the building, one long line in the terrace, and the garden continuing the same direction.

An open slat ceiling that keeps the material story going

Inside, the eye moves up to the open slat ceiling. The wooden rhythm overhead is finer than the exterior line work, but it speaks the same language. Between the slats, the structure stays visible, and the ceiling adds depth without breaking the room into smaller parts. Black structural elements cut across it with a clear, graphic presence, making the ceiling feel composed rather than decorative.

The material continuity is what stands out. The project does not switch abruptly from outside to inside. The detailing of the cladding is echoed by the interior finish, and the open wood slats bring that precision into the room above. Light falls between the slats in narrow bands, so the ceiling changes throughout the day without needing a separate gesture.

Stone and timber shape the main interior surfaces

A strong stone feature wall anchors one part of the interior. Its rectangular shape gives the room a solid center, especially beside the lighter cabinetry and the open glass edges. The surface is plain enough to let the surrounding materials do their work. Wood, stone and glass keep appearing in different combinations, but nothing feels pasted on. Each element holds its place in the composition.

The kitchen wall is drawn tight and flat, with integrated storage and a pared-back opening. It sits beneath the wooden ceiling like a quiet counterpoint to the larger glass planes elsewhere in the house. The black details above and the pale fronts below create a clear split, while the adjacent timber surfaces keep the room from becoming visually cold. In a modern bungalow with strong lines, that kind of restraint matters more than ornament.

Precise openings and built-in surfaces

Seen from the interior, the large openings do more than bring in daylight. They direct the room toward the outside in a controlled way, keeping the view wide but not scattered. The fitted surfaces around the kitchen and along the wall stay close to the architecture, which helps the room read as part of the building rather than as a separate insert. Even the smallest lines, such as the edge of a panel or the shadow beneath a cabinet, carry the same careful alignment.

Garden sight lines finish the composition

Outside, the garden is arranged with clear sight lines and straight paths that continue the language of the house. Planting is kept in bands and edges, so the route through the site remains easy to read. The dark boundary elements along the edge of the plot frame the composition, while the masonry and glass of the house hold the center. The effect is not busy. It is measured and directional, with each line helping the next one land.

After dark, the planting picks up a soft wash of light. That evening glow is subtle, but it changes the distance between house and garden. The path edges, the shrubs and the dark roofline become easier to read, and the rear opening takes on more depth. In that setting, the garden sight lines feel like part of the architecture itself. The house does not stop at the glass; it carries on through the terrace, the path and the lit planting beyond.
