Liz Caan has been designing homes of character and style since 2005, when she founded Liz Caan & Co. Specializing in design that honors tradition and does so with a modern sensibility, Liz sees each home as an opportunity to create enduring design–dynamic interiors that live and grow with her clients.
With a belief that style is an “approach,” Liz calls her’s, “Fearless Traditional.” It pushes boundaries for interest, engagement and delight while never losing sight of its roots: a love of traditional. The approach leaves room for Liz’s three clear gravitational pulls to flourish: well-made things crafted by gifted artisans, meaningful details that bring out each space’s personality, and storytelling expressed through materials—as well as pattern, texture and color.
Those passions took hold when Liz was a young girl growing up in the Midwest. Visits to Chicago opened her eyes to an array of design styles, organic shapes and energizing colors. Today, memories of the traditional befriending the modern, the historic welcoming deep comfort, and the formal co-mingling with the playful, all prevail in Liz’s work.
Working at the intersection of design, architecture and construction, Liz has given some of Boston’s most distinctive and historic homes renewed vitality and charm. Her collaborative point of view engages clients in a creative process that moves them beyond the expected. The result is a beautiful home that is highly attuned to the owners’ lifestyle, personality and values.
Liz Caan & Co. has been showcased in numerous publications, some of which include: Architectural Digest, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Traditional Home, Luxe Interiors, House & Garden, Design New England, Boston Home, and New England Home. Her work has also been featured in design books, and was recently selected for the 24th Andrew Martin International Design Review book, often dubbed the Oscars of Interior Design.
A Board Member of the New England Chapter of the Institute of Classical Art & Architecture (ICAA), Liz is also an active member of the Design Leadership Network (DLN), and The Leaders of Design Council (LDC). She is a founding member of the newly formed Design Leadership Foundation whose goal is to address issues of cultural and racial disparity, and under representation in architecture and design.
Liz holds a degree in Fine Art. Her design studio is based in Newton, Massachusetts, where she lives with her husband, 3 children and 2 dogs, yet somehow still finds time to fuel her love for travel.
