From doctor’s house to dream villa
Meijs’ interior designer Marjon van Doorn loves unusual projects. When she got to work with colleagues on team Meijs on the interior design of this dream villa, she felt in her element.
Touch of industrial
Says Marjon, “The house was built in the 1960s for a general practitioner and architecturally transformed into a villa with two generous floors, with the second floor housing all the living spaces. The large windows provide a wonderful view of the outdoor space! Working closely with the residents, we went for a tough, slightly industrial atmosphere.’
Nice mix of brands
In the living kitchen came a cozy dining area, with chairs and dining room benches by Piet Boon and Walter Knoll. “The seating area was also decorated super comfortably,” Marjon continued. ‘My interior design heart was beating faster at the mix of beautiful brands I was allowed to use for this. We chose seating by Linteloo, Label and Verzelloni plus a nice lounge chair by Vitra. We combined these with tables by Van Rossum, Gelderland and Cassina. The woolly rugs by De Munk and CS Rugs added a bit of extra warmth and soundproofing.’
Art Collection
To separate the living area from the sleeping area, custom-made wall cabinets came in. In this way, a long corridor of sleeping suites was created. “It has definitely become a dream villa, complete with luxurious wellness and beautiful guest rooms,” Marjon said. ‘The residents love quality and like to invest in timeless materials that they can enjoy for a long time to come. What makes the overall atmosphere extra personal is their colorful art collection. Thanks to the somewhat subdued interior, it came out even better.’
