While they were still living in London, the “New Parkwijck” was purchased, a stately home designed in 1913 by H. P. Berlage. There was no doubt about the layout of the house, it was well put together. Each color proposal considered how this would fit into the Berlage design. It became a family home where the spirit of Berlage still lives.

Attracts all the attention The newly designed kitchen came to its original place and while you cook you look into the garden, a detail that should not be missing. A wall between the kitchen and dining room was removed, creating an open kitchen with plenty of room for the dining table and African chairs brought from London. The walls were given a botanical wallpaper that attracts all attention. Light pink curtains hang in front of the windows, which in turn provide peace. The custom-made office furniture is dark blue and forms a whole with the vinyl wallpaper in the same color. On the other side of the wall, the children have their own sitting room, where they play puzzles, play the guitar and read. The master bed & bath is also on this floor.

No television One of the wishes was that there would be no television in the living room. As a compromise, it is now concealed with a lift system in a cabinet that was designed over the existing paneling, it looks like it was made for it. The wishes of the children, who sleep on the second floor, were also considered. The girls share a pink bedroom, and the brother has his own treehouse bed. You have the best view in the smallest room of the house, the guest room.

“From here you can see the tower of the Peace Palace and in the evening it is a kind of Dickens setting with those cute lanterns and trees in the foreground and all the lights in the distance, just like a fairy tale.”
