High waterline pool

A broad water surface sits close to the top edge, so the pool reads differently from a standard skimmer basin. The line of water is deliberate and calm, with the eye catching the long, level surface before it notices the terrace around it. That is the appeal of a high waterline pool: the presence of an overflow look pool, but with a more restrained construction beneath the surface.

A water level that meets the edge

The defining move is simple to read in the photos. A custom stainless steel construction with a skimmer box runs across the full width of the pool, allowing the water to sit high in the basin. Instead of a lowered waterline, the surface stays close to the edge and gives the in-ground pool waterline a sharper outline. It is a technical choice, but visually it is the water level itself that sets the tone.

This pool with high water level does not rely on decoration. The rectangular form is clear, the corners are direct, and the water reflects the sky with very little interruption. From the terrace, the pool appears almost flush with its surroundings. That is what makes the high waterline pool so readable in the garden: the shape is straightforward, while the waterline does most of the work.

Terrace slabs frame the basin

Large paving slabs surround the pool and keep the setting visually quiet. Their pale grey and dark grey tones create a measured border that helps the water surface stand out. In some views, the paving leads straight up to the pool edge; in others, it stretches wider and gives the basin more room to breathe. The terrace does not compete with the waterline pool design. It holds the geometry in place.

A visible outdoor shower appears on one of the terraces, set against the same hard surfaces and clean lines. It sits close enough to the pool to feel connected, but it remains a separate element. That kind of detail matters in a project like this. The eye moves from stone to water to the small vertical line of the shower, and the composition stays legible without needing extra ornament.

Raised water, quieter than a full overflow

The source material describes a custom-built solution that creates the atmosphere of an overflow pool without taking on the disadvantages associated with that type of basin. In practice, that means the pool keeps the visual effect of a high water level while remaining a skimmer pool in the project description. The result is not about spectacle. It is about getting the waterline to sit where the architecture benefits most from it.

Because the water sits so high, the basin reads as a more precise cut in the landscape. The edge is easier to read, especially where the paving meets the water in long, straight runs. That is why the pool feels integrated into the terrace rather than placed on top of it. The eye follows the long side of the basin, then returns to the reflections on the surface.

Why the waterline matters visually

With an in-ground pool waterline like this, the visible height of the water changes the whole reading of the garden. The basin looks fuller, and the reflections begin earlier, right near the edge. In the photos, that effect is strongest where the terrace opens out beside the pool and the garden lawn runs beside the paving. The water becomes part of the horizontal plane rather than a separate box in the garden.

The pool’s rectangular shape supports that reading. There are no curves to soften the outline, only straight edges and a long surface. The result is a clear waterline pool design that keeps the attention on proportion. It is this proportion, not ornament, that gives the project its character.

Garden edges kept low and open

Beyond the terrace, the garden remains measured and open. Neat lawn edges sit against the paving, and the green areas are kept low so the pool can stay visible from several angles. In some images, the surrounding planting is minimal, leaving the stone and water to carry most of the composition. The change from hard surface to grass happens cleanly, with no heavy transition line.

The setting also shows how the pool works in different architectural surroundings. Some views place it beside a villa with dark window frames and pale walls; others show a rural house with a thatched roof. In both cases, the pool stays visually disciplined. It does not depend on one style of building. The high waterline pool simply uses the terrace, the water, and the garden edge to set its own rhythm.

Clear lines in villa and garden settings

The contrast between the pool and the house is part of the appeal. White and light grey surfaces in the architecture are echoed in the paving, while darker details make the water appear deeper. In the rural scenes, the thatched roof softens the larger volume of the house, but the pool remains strict in outline. That difference makes the pool easy to read from the garden and from the house alike.

Nothing in the imagery suggests a crowded composition. The pool keeps its own rectangle, the terrace keeps its own plane, and the lawn stays trimmed close to the border. Those simple relationships are enough. The project shows how a pool with high water level can hold a strong visual presence without extra features. The broad surface, the stone surround and the sharp waterline do the work together.

A skimmer pool with a stronger visual edge

Because the construction runs across the full width of the basin, the waterline takes on more weight than in an ordinary pool. That is the point of the design. It belongs to the category of skimmer pools, but the visual effect is closer to an overflow look pool when seen from the terrace. The water is what you notice first, then the straight paving, then the house beyond.

Seen as a project page, this pool is best understood through its edge. The custom stainless steel construction, the broad skimmer box and the elevated water level combine into one reading: a high waterline pool with a restrained outline and a clear architectural presence. The setting around it stays deliberately simple, which lets the basin, the terrace and the surrounding garden define the scene.
