Loft tobacco factory Menen
Interior of loft tobacco factory Menen
It concerns a type of loft concept spread over 3 floors, where a combination of living and working had to be realized. The starting point was a wind and watertight whole, provided with a certain fixed layout based on the individuality that this building structure contained. The existing fixed layout was only located on the ground floor and the second floor, while the first floor could retain its openness.
The existing stairwell that connects all floors with each other in an open connection was also a determining factor here, as well as the existing wooden beam structure that was usually visibly preserved.
The part of the ground floor that is rather limited in terms of surface area functions mainly as a reception area where the functions of storage, cloakroom, toilet and office are accommodated.
The first floor has a fully-fledged living function and contains the functions of living room, kitchen and dining room in an open relationship.
The second floor has the most privacy with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The elements already present within this specific context were deliberately retained and used as an eye-catcher, whereby a sought-after contrast was achieved with the tight lines of the planned fillings.
