The first impression comes from the roof and the setting around it. The villa sits in woodland, where tall pines frame the view and dark openings cut into the thatch. Rather than pushing upward, the mass stays restrained, which lets the garden and the trees do most of the talking. In this woodland villa, the roof profile is not a decorative finish; it shapes the whole silhouette and keeps the house close to the ground.

That same restraint continues in the way the outdoor areas are placed. A pool, lawn edges and planted borders sit around the house without crowding it. The architecture leaves space between the volumes, so the landscape can move around them. Seen from outside, the villa with thatched roof appears to be arranged in layers: roof, wall, opening, garden, tree line.

A sunken seating area built for long evenings

Deeper in the garden, a sunken outdoor seating area pulls people down into the landscape. The fire feature sits at the centre, paired with a barbecue, and the low setting creates a different pace from the open lawn around it. The bench line stays close to the ground, which makes the garden feel larger and keeps the view open toward the trees. On warm days, the outdoor pool gives the same section of the garden another use, more direct and more exposed.

The outdoor room extends beyond the seating pit. A separate structure sits further back on the site and is divided into a recessed ground floor and an upper level. It contains a pantry, a bathroom and a dedicated meeting room, with a terrace attached to the side. From there, the sightline reaches the many pines around the plot. The result is an outdoor sequence that alternates between open ground, sheltered rooms and a place to sit beside the fire.

Outdoor rooms that work like an extension of the garden

The garden program is practical without feeling rigid. The pantry keeps serving close to the terrace, the bathroom means the space can function for longer stays outside, and the meeting room gives the building a purpose beyond leisure. Because the structure is set deeper into the garden, it keeps the informality of an estate-like setting. It is not treated as a detached annex but as part of the route through the landscape.

From the entrance hall, a stone stair leads upward to the first floor, and light shapes the stairwell before the eye reaches the next room. The landing opens toward the kitchen, which the residents experience as the core of the house. Here, the kitchen with large openings does more than frame the garden; it changes how the room is used. A full-height glazed wall can be opened completely, so the boundary between inside and outside disappears in a single motion.

That move gives the landscape a central role inside as well. Instead of treating the garden as a backdrop, the plan pulls it into the daily route through the house. The stair, the landing and the kitchen line up in a clear sequence, and the glass wall makes sure the view remains uninterrupted. It is one of the strongest spatial gestures in the house: step up, turn toward the kitchen, open the wall, and the woodland villa broadens into the garden.

Sand-toned interior surfaces and darker joinery

A sand-toned interior sets the tone across the house. Several shades of beige and soft earth color create the base, and that calm background allows darker joinery, stone surfaces and sharper textures to stand out. The palette is not washed out; it has enough variation to hold the furniture and custom millwork in place. The contrast is subtle, but it gives the rooms structure and keeps the larger spaces from feeling empty.

The material choices are carried through with the same discipline. Natural stone appears in the stair, in bathrooms and in parts of the living areas, while dark cabinetry and built-ins give the rooms a stronger edge. Clear accent colors are used sparingly. They register as small interruptions in the sand-toned field, enough to reflect the family’s personality without breaking the quiet of the interior. This is where the luxury landscape villa feels most measured: in the way surfaces, fittings and proportions are held in check.

Light, stone and openings in the stair hall

The stair hall deserves its own moment. Natural stone underfoot, bright walls and a carefully composed shaft of light give the space a different rhythm from the rooms beyond it. The stair does not merely connect floors; it acts as a visual hinge. From there, the house feels open in multiple directions, with the kitchen visible ahead and the upper level catching light from above. It is a small sequence, but it defines how the interior is read.

The basement brings in pool, wellness and a private brewery

Below ground, the villa expands into a basement that holds several very different functions. Copper beer tanks stand out immediately on arrival and identify the private brewery basement as one of the house’s most distinctive spaces. The setup allows the owner to experiment with fermentation and distillation, and a direct line connects the brewery to the tap in the outdoor kitchen. That practical link between basement and garden gives the house an unusual internal logic.

Alongside the brewery are a gym, an indoor pool with jet and an adjoining wellness room. Natural stone and calm surfaces continue here, but the atmosphere shifts to water, reflected light and enclosed volume. The indoor pool and wellness spaces sit close together, which makes the basement read as a cluster of related rooms rather than isolated amenities. The same applies to the rest of the lower level: function is present, but it is handled through material consistency and clear routing rather than display.

Across all levels, the house relies on a few strong moves instead of many competing gestures.
