Mansion DT

This old mansion in Brussels had already been completely dismantled inside when JUMA architects was asked to renovate and expand this property.

The previous architect had dismantled the property and had already done much of the structural work. However, the client was not satisfied with the design and we were asked to redesign the project. As a result, we too first had to do a lot of structural work. With the exception of the foundations and the pool pit, the entire rear building was again demolished.

The works had already removed much of the mansion’s charm. To restore the house to its former glory, the client wanted new ornaments in several places on oa. the walls, on the ceilings and at the level of interior doors.

The majestic staircase in the hall was copied so that it looks like it originally served the second floor as well.

The classic millwork is in stark contrast to the sleek design of the architecture of the rear façade. This rear façade had to ensure that as much light as possible would enter the house which more than succeeded with the 3m80 high minimal windows in the kitchen and living room.

Also on level -1, light had to be drawn in as there is a complete spa with a 15.5m indoor pool, sauna, massage room and fitness. Four large -light bars incorporated into the upper terrace allow the pool to light up. By lowering the terrain along with it, you now also seem to swim straight into the garden, and large areas of glass can be used there as well. This also gives the fitness/polyval space a better connection to the outdoors.

The entire first floor was arranged as a master bedroom with attached dressing room, bathroom, office and additional space for another room and/or office. On the second floor there are 4 more rooms with attached bathrooms.

The front facade has been restored to its original state, however, we have widened the entrance gate (unobtrusively) to allow for entry by car.
