The kitchen in this detached villa received a thorough metamorphosis. From impractical small kitchen to open kitchen with massive island. Warm wood and simple white complement each other.

For their new kitchen, the residents were looking for a combination of functionality and aesthetic value. They already had the design of the kitchen. However, they have taken the choice of materials to the next level.

CUSTOM DESIGN

“The owners enjoy being busy in the kitchen and value space and good equipment. We applied their demand for high-quality appliances and craftsmanship to the existing design. This ensured that the kitchen went from factory-made to handcrafted,” says Dennis van Oudenallen of Restyle XL. Veneer was used for the ori- ginal design. For the final kitchen, the residents chose to work with solid wood. They also chose built-in ap- parature, except for two devices. On the countertop there had to be room to place a coffee machine, which also needed a water connection. The stove was chosen by the lady of the house. The one that was planned was replaced by one from Wolf. She immediately fell in love with this stove and it now forms the eye-catcher of the kitchen.

EYE FOR DETAIL

Wood is a constant in the kitchen. The table top at the island is made of an unfinished tree trunk. The organic shape adds a playful and personal touch. The same wood was used for the interior lining of the open cabinets as that of the cabinetry. This is located behind the island and is finished with a nice bench seat. Here the white color is balanced by installing wooden doors. This breaks up the all-white kitchen and creates a warmer look. “The client had quite an eye for detail: no pasted edges were to be visible, and the hinges of the cabinetry had to be completely concealed as well,” Dennis says. Instead of ordinary handles, the residents chose stainless-steel hatch rings. They wanted to move away from the black handles you see almost everywhere these days.
