A spacious modern family garden. A calm, clean base, with large clouds of soothing plantings. Functional landscaping: form follows function.
A large pool is also needed here: the family consists of six children in addition to the parents. The pool is beautifully embedded in the greenery. “I place swimming pools in the garden in such a way that they are easily accessible but not visible from the house. In the Netherlands, a swimming pool is an ugly element. It is often closed with a roll deck, unless you go swimming,” said landscaper Gert-Jan Schouwenaar.
The outbuilding, porch and garden wall connecting to it are part of the garden design. Under the spacious canopy, residents can barbecue and relax on the lounge set. To keep warm in the evening, a fireplace was made under the canopy. This way it can be used even in winter, with the fireplace nicely lit and a blanket over your knees… It’s a good place to be with a projector, TV, Sonos music system, heaters and a Big Green Egg!
Water play in the pool
Designed by the landscaper, the water feature pumps the pool water around. The stainless steel bongs are custom-made. Connected to the pipes is the pool’s pumping system. The water play is an additional play element for the children.
