Penthouse Ghent

This new penthouse was purchased on plan from a developer. The client came to JUMA with the request to redesign the entire interior that was initially drawn in. Due to the completely new layout, the facades also changed so JUMA also helped design the architecture.

Instead of two bedrooms, three had to be provided in the same area without changing the rest of the program or sacrificing spaciousness. JUMA searched for the most logical layout and came up with a design with functional walking lines to make the best use of the available space. Between the sitting area and the kitchen with dining area, a central block was provided that incorporates a gas fireplace along one side of the living space and houses the cooking niche on the other side.

Between the two elements, a storage room was conceived close to the kitchen. Next to the central block, the volume staggers to accommodate a desk. The low furniture in the sitting area houses the TV and gently guides you into the night hallway.

An additional request was to have the elevator exit directly into the penthouse itself and not into a common entrance hall. As a result, when the elevator doors open you are immediately embraced by a homely atmosphere that is partly determined by the warm look of the dark parquet in Hungarian point. The double-glazed door between the entrance and living space is fire-resistant to comply with regulations and also allows natural light deep into the core to avoid entering a dark space. The fixed furniture is finished in a light larch veneer and contrasts nicely with the dark, character-filled floor.
